chaoskitty 0 #6 October 26, 2003 I met a fellow skydiver who is male, straight, and a flight attendent for SWA when I was flying in to or out of San Antonio, I think. I was wearing my closing pin necklace and we had a nice little chat. What does being a flight attendant have anything to do with being gay? I think that if you like to fly/travel that much and your other responsibilities allow for that, go for it if you want to. However, keep in mind how traveling that much would interfere with your post whoring...
Nightingale 0 #7 October 26, 2003 I have a few friends who've worked as flight attendants or pilots, and they really like their jobs... depends on the route, tho... you don't want to get assigned something dull.
mouth 0 #8 October 26, 2003 Yes, I was a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines and the American Airlines. It was a very fun job most of the time, but not all glamorous as people would think. If you fly from LAX to ATL you will most likely walk the entire way...or that is how it used to be when we served a full meal on each flight. The benefits are nice but flying stand-by can be a pain if the flight is full. I'm not sure what the salary is now but it used to be very low; however, you need to put that into perspective that you really only "worked" 80 hours a month but can be away from home way more than that. I would go back in a heartbeat now exept that I have two children to raise, I've gained over the max weight for my height (of course they don't weigh you every trip like they used to) and I couldn't live off such a small amount of money. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit. misskriss 0 #12 October 26, 2003 QuoteI was a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines My Aunt was a flight attendant for Eastern... she met and married her husband who was an Eastern pilot. I remember all the strike stuff.....etc.. and then when Eastern went under he took a job and flew corporate for HOoters. He was killed when his plane crashed flying a nascar driver to a race. It was obviously awhile back, but maybe you knew her/him.
mouth 0 #13 October 26, 2003 Where was she based out of? There were over 5,000 flight attendants in ATL alone but I knew lots of them. PM me her name. VanillaSkyGirl 6 #20 October 27, 2003 Quote've gained over the max weight for my height WTH? I've met you, and I know that you are a small woman. What the hell is going on with this world!?! How could YOU weigh too much for your height, and why is that an issue if you could do the job well? I am light no matter how much I eat, but I am disgusted by this freakish mentality that our society has regarding weight. It's like that Rusian ballerina thread...at her weight, how could she possibly be considered "too heavy" to lift?
