sangiro 26 #1 September 26, 2003 Heya all, Back from India and I dropped some photos for you in the usual spot. http://www.dropzone.com/temp/ 1.05 billion people live, a lot of them in extreme poverty, a stone's throw away from the Taj Mahal - one of the Wonders of the World. Unfortunately in India as in many developing countries the "untouchables" (a class lower than the lowest class in the Indian caste system) too often seem to be the children and the old people. India is certainly if nothing else, an interesting country and society. It was good to be there. Enjoy the photos. Safe swoops Sangiro

sarge 0 #4 September 26, 2003 I read an incredible article in National Geographic about the "ancha" (sp.?) the "untouchables" and the Castes of India. Tragic... Yup! I admire their perserverence! .-- I'm done with the personally meaningful and philosophical sigs!!

QuickDraw 0 #6 September 26, 2003 Did you take any shots of the countryside ? i will have to upload some (when i get em scanned) a breathtaking place with its own set of unique problems. sangiro 26 #7 September 26, 2003 QuoteDid you take any shots of the countryside ?Unfortunately not many. Most of my experience of the countryside was thought the window of a car. I had limited time. QuoteWould you go back ? That's a good question.... I have no particular desire to go back. Even though I found it to be very interesting there are still too many other places that I have not been to yet that are higher on my list than a return-visit to India.Safe swoops Sangiro

skymama 37 #10 September 27, 2003 Nick and I looked at the pictures together. He was really impressed with this one, this one this one and he thought it was really great that they have a skateboard park in that one! Great shots...I really like all the lines in them. You sure are really handy with a camera. SkydiveNFlorida 0 #12 September 27, 2003 Wow! Those pictures were so breathtakingly beautiful. The culture and tradition is so awesome! I loved all of the pictures, they all had their own stories. I especially liked the picture of the two chairs next to each other. The way the inner legs lean the chairs toward one another, as if a couple occupied them day after day for years. You are an awesome photographer, Sangiro! Thanks for sharing!! Angela.
