eJAKAL 0 #1 August 14, 2003 MSNBC has a feature called "The Week In Pictures." This week's list of candidates includes a rather stunning photo of a skydiver under canopy silhouetted by a huge silver cloud at the WFFC. If you go to the WiP home page, you can check out all the candidate photos for yourself. http://www.msnbc.com/modules/theweekinpictures/default.asp?0ql=cmp I suggest sending this link along to all your friends and family and suggest they "vote" for this photo. I think it would be great to see skydiving promoted in this way. JAKAL

CanuckInUSA 0 #4 August 14, 2003 That's a cool pic. Too bad it's sort of difficult to identify the canopy as you never know, it could be one of us? But we'll never know. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
Ron 10 #5 August 14, 2003 I personally don't think its the best pic. The one with the bomb shows a split second in time that most will not see. The others show the political unrest of the world. All of the others show more color and composition that the Almost Black and White skydiver one. The sight of a guy under canopy can be seen at any DZ on a weekend. But I would not vote on it just because its skydiving..The others are better photos."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,
bmcd308 0 #6 August 14, 2003 I see what you mean, but I think the ice cream one is the best one. Great composition. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

I agree, but it could have been staged...It probley was not, but the Bomb one...WOW!!! Shutter at just the right moment. The one with the lady in the boat with the flower was very nice also...But I still vote Bomb...I mean WOW!"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,

I think you'll find that the pic was taken with either time lapse or VERY fast sequential stills. Not just some dude getting luck with a shutter release. You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing? The bomb photo looks like a video capture to me (which I guess counts as "fast sequental stills").
phonics1981 0 #10 August 15, 2003 I dunno.... Have any of you seen that picture of a vietnamese prisoner with a gun to his head by a vietcong soldier? The picture was taken at the exact moment the bullett was inside the prisoners head. Disturbing. Any way, keeping in line with the Forum Topic, skydiving is fucking amazing!! ------------------------------------------------------ "Ive given up on sigs cos I make a mess of them!" ------------------------------------------------------
eJAKAL 0 #11 October 24, 2003 Actually, that's a good case in point. The photographer who shot that had his camera set on auto - there's about 8 frames in the sequence that spans about 4 seconds. Ya don't see the frames with the brains flying out all that often. The police chief (doing the shooting) had just learned that the prisoner had killed his wife and child in a bomb attack on his apartment meant for him moments before. The chief now runs a hot dog stand somewhere in N.J. last I heard. I dunno what the photographer is up to. JAKAL
