bmoore21184 0 #2 October 23, 2003 I go to the air force academy and during one of our summers we either take a jump course, like i did, or a sail plane course. The people i know that took the sailplane course said they liked it, but i didnt hear anybody coming back to the dorms saying "man that was SWEET ride". I heard people saying that about jump ALL the time. I am sure it is a great experience, but not quite the rush or mind blowing feeling that jumping is. I have never riden in a sail plane so it might be totally awesome. Anyways that my 2 cents, later. B Moore 'Turbulence is a bitch'
usedtajump 1 #3 October 23, 2003 Quotesailplanes and gliding, does this compare any to skydiving or is it just a whole new expirance on its own, Not even. After retiring from skydiving I took a few sailplane lessons just to see what kind of thrill might be had. Good cure for insomnia. The older I get the less I care who I piss off. riggerrob 643 #4 October 23, 2003 I tried gliding when I was a teenager, even built a hang glider. I earned my private pilot license in my twenties, about the same time I started skydiving. also tried para-gliding when I was thirty. Even did a bit of ballooning. All those types of flying were enjoyable, but only skydiving is fast enough to hold my attention in the long run. Different sports for different people. kjarv 0 #5 October 23, 2003 BMoore - Nice pic on your home page of the UV-18B Twin Otter: Primary Mission, Jump Platform :) Where do you get time to jump for fun--jeez, camp USAFA must be getting weak I've soloed Sailplanes and though it was fun, skydiving is WAY more fun! true blue '
bmoore21184 0 #6 October 23, 2003 kjary- Well after 490 I had to MAKE time. I couldn't go out for wings of green because i am an IC gymnast so I manage to get out to canon city about every other saturday. i dont know what is going here with camp usafa, maybe it is getting weak seeing as recognition is "no longer in our vocabulary". kallend 2,027 #7 October 23, 2003 Quotesailplanes and gliding, does this compare any to skydiving or is it just a whole new expirance on its own, Just different. I have a private pilot (glider) license.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
VectorBoy 0 #8 October 24, 2003 I love anything aviation. Gliding is different, it may not be as much of a rush but it has its own challenges. It can be more like canopy flight but it depends on how you fly your ship. Its all good
