DShiznit 0 #3 October 23, 2003 Is that where they went up in a hot air balloon and had to unwrap this leather thing from the birds head, then a guy jumped and the bird followed? I think I've seen that one before...
McDuck 0 #4 October 23, 2003 That "leather thing" is the hood that all falconers have to use on their birds to keep them calm and content to remain on the fist or post. The raptor also should have had "jesses" which are slip-through leather thongs attached to their legs used to hold them to the glove or post. I used to be an apprentice falconer, until I realized I simply did not have the time to dedicate to something that demanding...plus, I was married at the time. SkyDolphin 0 #6 October 23, 2003 It was filmed in the San Juan Islands in Washington. There is a pretty long piece of footage from it on Kent's Willing to Fly video. Rhonda
dropdeded 0 #7 October 23, 2003 No, this was in the guys dads cessna. It was very interesting. They even gutted a protrac and stuck it to the birds tail. First couple jumps, they thought the bird was struggling to keep up with em. Turns out the bird was struggling to stay BACK with em. Very cool program. dropdeded------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
