Please! If you're going to insult, at least make it accurate. You should've replaced impressionable with drunk or some other fitting term. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

SkymonkeyONE 4 #55 October 21, 2003 QuoteReal World casts tend to be 21-25. They have to be old enough to drink. Half the drama is played up in bars on that show it seems. Val is quite the barfly so thats right up her alley Not true at all, Erk. 18-23 is what they take generally. I can't remember the last time I saw anyone over 23, but there have been quite a few cast members who are under 21, even on the series where they are in the USA. There are many instances where underage drinking is shown. It's pretty pathetic to admit, but I have seen almost every single episode of every season; not that I intentionally look for it. PLFKING 4 #57 October 21, 2003 I'm leaving this thread now. Arguing with an Ohio State fan, a Purdue grad, and a Canadian is just not worth it to me (besides, it sounds like the start of a really bad joke Don ps....I fart in your generally Northern direction...."When in doubt I whip it out, I got me a rock-and-roll band. Vallerina 2 #59 October 22, 2003 I will chalk last night up to an odd experience that I had, and I will share the story about it with all of you (and give you tips of how to actually make it on!) So, I wasted some time having to wait in a very long line. We had to fill out this questionnaire while we waited with the typical personality questions (ie best/worst traits, most embarrassing moment, something unusual about yourself, relationship crap, etc.) So, they finally took 14 of us in, and we sat around in a circle with the casting director, a cute woman who seemed rather annoyed. I sat somewhat across from her far away from the annoying people. Before anything really started, David and Cara from the last Road Rules walked on by and small talked with us for a few. He was surprisingly short. One girl in the group freaked out when they started talking to us...I don't really know why. She had us go around introducing ourselves, and no one really seemed to "stand out." Then, she told us that she was going to ask the group a question, and we should just chime in whenever. So, she asked, "In a relationship, what is cheating?" I smiled, waited a second, and was the first to answer. I had to giggle about that question, and this thread should explain why. Most people gave their own personal definition of cheating, and no one was really original. If I get a call-back, it will be because of my awesome answer to that question. If they don't like it, fine by me! That answer was as much of "myself" as I could be. One guy got snippy and said, "Who really lists things like that out?" in response to my, "Whatever goes against the agreed terms." I almost started an argument and said, "It's called communication. Try it. Or...maybe that's why you're already divorced at the age of 20." I didn't say it, because it may have hurt my chances. After that, she had us go around in the circle and say what a misconception about us was. All the girls but one other woman and myself answered, "People think I'm a bitch until they get to know me." That girl who answered differently and the guy that sat next to me have a reasonable chance of getting on (imho.) At the end, she told us to ask any questions that we had. Most everyone asked the typical, "When will we found out if we get called back?", "How many people get called back?" She seemed annoyed by that. After that was all done, I told her that it was nice to meet her, and I walked outside. I ran into a skydiver that I've known since my student status days that jumps at Skydive Chicago now! We chit chatted for a few, and we made pseudo-plans to actually hang out and jump one of these days. So, this all was worth it since I ran into someone who did some student status jumps at my old home dz! Proof that everything works out for the best! If anyone seriously wants to get on, I suggest sending in a video tape. A person watching just you for 10 minutes instead of watching you and 13 other people for 10 minutes seems preferrable. If you aren't original, don't bother applying. Most of the group discussion was filled with about 9 people who were all exactly alike, all talking way too much, and all saying the exact same thing. If you aren't interesting, talking more will only hurt your chances. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
melstarr 0 #60 October 22, 2003 hey val* ~ i can totally relate to everything you stated about the casting call. i actually tried out for the real world new orleans a few years ago (it was held in baton rouge)... i participated in the whole ---questionaire & sitting around the table with 12 people and a producer^...^who had seen about 200-300 other people before us... he was actually yawning as he asked us to introduce ourselves! one guy at our table introduced himself AND proceeded with an explanation of how mtv should pick him because he was the "All-american guy" it was actually a very interesting experience to see how UNREAL people are in front of mtv producers. i ended up being disgusted with the whole idea after seeing how weird & fake people can be. i only tried out for the real world in hopes of being a part of Road Rules (more exciting & physical). i also agree: for a future realworld/roadrules-wanna-be ~~ a video would be a bit more promising to get recognized or even considered--- val, did you try sending in one? well i am very happy that you were REAL & i really wish you would have told that guy what you felt like saying ~ who knows: it may have sparked the interest of the casting director?!? hehehehehee good luck sweetie ~ i really hope you get picked...it would be so much cooler to watch the real world/road rules if a sister skydiver was on the show! yaaaaaaaay! ~ meL* Pink Mafia / Tunnel Mafia Sister
Vallerina 2 #61 October 22, 2003 Quote i actually tried out for the real world new orleans a few years ago It's too bad you didn't make it...you could've been the only cool person on that show! Quoteit was actually a very interesting experience to see how UNREAL people are in front of mtv producers. i ended up being disgusted with the whole idea after seeing how weird & fake people can be. I also discovered just how much people with nothing much to say really enjoy talking about themselves! The guy who was standing in line behind me took his wedding ring off for the interview, too (also the guy who thinks that communication is stupid.) Quotei only tried out for the real world in hopes of being a part of Road Rules (more exciting & physical). Yes! If I had the choice, I would go on Road Rules. Travelling around, doing fun stuff, winning prizes is more attractive to me. Quoteval, did you try sending in one? No, I sure didn't. I guess I just saw the casting call as an opportunity. It was a short bus ride from where I work, it's free, and I didn't really want to pass it up. If I'm meant to be on the show, then I figure a casting call was good enough. Quotewell i am very happy that you were REAL & i really wish you would have told that guy what you felt like saying I kind of do, too. He kept talking, so it was hard to jump in. Some other girl (the one there that I liked) interrupted him and said, "I discuss that with the people I'm with." I actually did try to jump in, but he had one of those loud voices that just wouldn't stop, so oh well. Quoteit would be so much cooler to watch the real world/road rules if a sister skydiver was on the show! yaaaaaaaay! Yes! I agree! Plus, I'd come here and post about what's actually going on there! It would be neat to see a skydiver on there, though. When everyone else is complaining, "Oh my god! I could've died!" the skydiver would be saying, "Hold my beer and watch this!"There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
Pammi 0 #62 October 22, 2003 Interesting! I hope you get on..I still say it'd be a fun experience and I'm all for trying anything and everything you can! You might be under-estimating your chances of getting on. You're cute, seem to enjoy experiences as well and have very definate opinions which is bound to create conflict with some people and they tend to have a lot of that on that show! Let us know when you hear something! Pammi
