Got a call last night everyone dreds...

Recommended Posts

well I was half asleep when My mom in colorado called me with the news "Your brother was in an accident." Now he and I both ride motorcycles so I instantly felt sick and hoped to god he was ok. Turns out that he was leaving his friends house and making a turn ~ 20-30mph (lucky him) and a stupid jeep cherokee turned left in front of him so he T-boned the jeep, got knocked out and taken to the hospital. He broke his arm and wrist and is going into surgery this afternoon at 3pm. I just dont know what to do, I want to just run around screaming at everything, break stuff, not do anything, fly out there to see him, I am just going crazy. But I think hes going to be fine but now hes outa work for at least 3months and probably wont be able to work in construction again (what he does now) so now they are in even more financial trouble. I know I am very thankful he is alive, and thats the only thing keeping me sane right now.

Oh man, I feel for ya. Those are the worst phone calls... especially when you're far away and there's not a damn thing you can do to help. :(

Run around screaming. Sometimes it helps! Can he take phone calls at the hospital? Might help you worry less if you can hear his voice.

Good to hear that his injuries weren't more extensive. Everything else - work, money, etc, - will work itself out.

I'm sorry :( Was he on the motorcycle when he wrecked? If so, I'd imagine he's VERY lucky that's all that happened. There will be options available to him financially. Try to help him not worry about that yet, he needs to heal and get better. YOU try to not worry too much because he'll be fine..it's easy to obsess when you can't be there close and feel guilty. Nothing you can do but talk to him and pray for him.

I used to ride motorcycles for a long time and never had any accidents. But it was a big worry for me. In fact between skydiving and motorcycles, my mom begged me to quit one or the other. I quite riding! I hope your brother turns out fine! Here's good vibes to you and your entire family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Think positive! Be positive!

Sorry to hear about your brother's accident. The good news is that he's alive and he has a wonderful family who cares about him. If you can get away to visit your brother...I'm sure he would appreciate your company and emotional support. Take it one step at a time...it will all work out one way or another.

Tons of energy coming your way...

He'll be fine be thankfully it was just a wrist and arm. They'll set those and they will be good as new. Considering most motorcycle accidents are far worse, he's lucky:)

I used to ride too. My parents hated it soooo much as they had known a couple that were disfigured when their leadwings went unstable on loose gravel - they were either wearing open face helments or none at all. Bad disfigurements. Dad always wanted a Hog but was never allowed because of this.

I was 'nice' and sold the bike since I also had an old British sportscar at the time.

Then I started skydiving. Actually they don't mind that at all. My aunt, on the other hand, lived next to a family who'se son (early 20's in the late 70's) had some kind of a nasty mal under a round and wound up waking up a parapalegic. Auntie D cringes at my skydiving - and now her oldest son wants to jump too. Guess who'se gonna be the villain in THAT one?

Strange how our past can colour our perceptions of what 'risk' really is, isn't it?

-Dave:

PS: VIBES to the lucky one (your brother, Jeff) to have survived a runin with an 'urban assault vehicle' (damn near anything with 4 wheels when you're on a bike)

So sorry your brother was injured, I'm sending vibes for his speedy recovery. I've experienced this kind of phone call....definitely the worst experience anyone has to go through.

thankfully your brother wasn't hurt any worse. They can do so many things now in medicine I'm sure hell be amazed at how well he will be able to move his arm and wrist when it heals.

{{{{vibes and Prayers}}}} for you and your brother.

I agree with others to that screaming does sometimes help...just not at someone. [:/]
