computer retarded!! Need help.

I was trying to figure out how to upload my picture
for my avitar but I keep getting an error message
saying that the picture size exceeds the 9.77 kb
minimum..Can anyone explain to me how to shrink
or condense this picture to fit????

lol. yes I'm serious.

All I do is open the image up in photoshop, click the "image" tab, and select "resize" and plug in the appropriate numbers. Takes 30 seconds. Little longer if I have to crop stuff.

Or, if the image is already of an appropriate size, I can adjust the quality of the image... lower quality = smaller file size.
