LouYoung 0 #28 October 13, 2003 Pale Ales and IPA's. Scottish Ambers are good too. Mostly Pacific Northwest, though AZ has some great local brews. The best: Sonora Burning Bird followed closely by Stone's Arrogant Bastard (brewed in San Diego county). Lou

lawrocket 3 #32 October 13, 2003 1. Fat Tire Ale - made by the New Belgium Brewing Company of Ft. Collins, CO. I can't get it out in Cali, which stinks. It is, quite simply, a wonderful beer! 2. Firestone Double Barrel Ale - Firestone Brewery, Buellton, CA. The best I can easily get out here. 3. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale - 'nuff said 4. Arrogant Bastard Ale - Stone Brewing Company, San Diego - You're not worthy. Exceptionally bitter and strong 5. Boddington's Pub Ale - not highly regarded, but I love it! I'm thirsty... My wife is hotter than your wife.

I'm surprised at two things here. #1 That you can't get Fat Tire. Since they started contract brewing it seems their distribution has gotten huge. Bars (and stores) around here usually carry Fat Tire as their "good" beer, right after the Bud, Bud Light, Coors, Coor Light rhetoric. #2 That you think Fat Tire is good. ;) Ever since they started contract brewing, I feel the beer has really gone downhill. I'm not a real fan anymore. New Belgium 1554 is a pretty good stout, though. Good choice with the Arrogant Bastard. Lou

Nightingale 0 #37 October 14, 2003 Guinness - but only in Ireland... the stuff we get here in the US doesn't taste right, and they confirmed for me at the brewery at St. James Gate that the US does get a different form of Guinness than is served in Ireland. (and contrary to popular belief, most pubs there do serve it cold). Oregon Honey Beer and Corona, if I really have to settle for something.
