If she's considered FAT...

Recommended Posts

[EXTREME SARCASM] Man, are you kidding me? This girl's obviously a porker!!! What is she, like 80 pounds??!?!!? Jeez, these Russian ballerinas need to diet!!! ;) [/EXTREME SARCASM]

Hey, if she thinks she's fat, then she has self esteem issues, which means with a bit of "you're beautiful" talk even I might have a chance!!! Where is she?!?!?!? B| Hahahahahaha!!!!

Hee! Hee!
Saturday I jumped with a girl almost my height (6'0"). She was joking with her sister whether she weighed 80 pounds or 90 pounds. She had narrow hips and shoulders, but very little meat on her bones. Her face is pretty enough that she could work as a fashion model, but none of the guys at the DZ found her attractive! They all commented on how skinny she was!

Then on Sunday I jumped twice with a guy who weighed 240 pounds. He was also my height. Last year he weighed 300 pounds and it was clear that his diet regemen also included some serious gym time, so he carried 240 pounds fairly well, though I believe his ideal "fighting weight" would be about 220 pounds.

So those are the extremes folks. My second student weighed THREE TIMES as much as my first student.

I do have to say that I am an exballerina, at 16 I was dancing with the Kirov Acad. Until I got tendonitus in my knees from practicing my point on concrete...btw not a good idea. I am 5'9" and at that time wieghed only 115lbs. I had no hips no boobs. After I had my son I actually grew boobs and had some hips. There is no way I cold ever go back to being a proballerina, but I do have to say that I feel a lot healthier and happier now than I did when I was dancing. I do miss dancing, but I do not miss just having protein shakes and weighing in everyday and being messured everyday and if you even gained 1/2 a pound you were put on a strick diet. If you lost 1/2 a pound you were forced to eat. They wanted everyone to look the same and stay that way. I do understand their point of view. Ballet has a certain image and flow and even if one person is not like the rest that flow would not be there. Every ballet company has differnt hieght and wieght requirements and those generally are based off of their best dancers. Mostly to keep those dancers from leaving. When you are just a chorus girl then you have to stick to their rules. If you are the primaballerina then everyone follows with what you chose to do, well within reason of course...

I'm not saying that we should go back to Marilyn Monroe as a standard, but come on, at least be realistic!

the "urban myth" that Marilyn was a "plus size" or would be considered fat now is a complete fallacy....

It's amazing to look throughout history at what beauty was. For example, see any paintings by John Paul Rubens (which led to the word "Rubenesque.") Lillian Russel, a famous actress of the latter 1800's, was large.

Indeed, even in older cartoons, the thin ladies and men are the evil ones. See Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, etc. How about the wiry Mr. Burns in the Simpsons?

Want some mud flaps? The gorgeous Jayne Mansfield had em! Somehow, it moved from that to the wiry, skinny chicks.

Now, 5'9" and 110 pounds is, to me, skinny. Maybe if those male ballerinas (or would those be ballerinos?) added some muscle mass to their frames they would have no problem lifting her.

My wife is hotter than your wife.

Personally I find a woman who is comfortable with her body to be an extreme turn-on, regardless of what her actual weight or size is.

And for the record, I also don't like waifish girls with no chest or hips. I like to have some curves!

Yeah, I'd pay serious money to see ballet on the TallGuy-Amazon scale!

Ah Jeanne! I'm cracking up! I'd love to see you walk out of the wings in a tutu, hands on hips, glaring at the little wussies.

"C'mon Ivan! Freaking throw me!"

I am tearing up here... ROFLMAO....Bolshoi becomes WWF...:P:P:P:P

From past experience with some friends who were diehard ballet dancers, I would guess most of the boys would rather be dancing with a Rudolph Nureyev or Mikhail Baryshnikov rather than Anastasia Volochkova. I often wonder why so many men seem to want women who are so skinny as to look like young boys rather than women...no breasts...or curves. It seems so much of the entertainment industry and fashion industry overall has the same attitude. They are the ones telling us who we are supposed to look like. For most of us its an unrealistic standard. I was too tall to dance...and too skinny for most athletic endeavors when I was young. Well at least I am still tall:P

Ugh....I'm in a bad mood, so I'm picking this topic to rant about! :D

Yes, I was in ballet for awhile, and I sucked, but some of the people I danced with went on to be professionals. So, the environment of where I danced was very "professional." At the time, I was naturally skinny. I used to eat half a pizza a day, but still weighed in at 95 lbs, and I was about 5'7" (I was also 14). Almost everyone else looked just like me. One girl got very ill from the flu and lost about 30 lbs. She was never fat, but the minute she got back from being sick, everyone raved about how good she looked. She was 12. She shouldn't have ever worried that she was too big. Sigh...

It's not just in ballet either. Look at all the celebrities that guys on here fantasize about. You won't be able to find many that wear something higher than a size 2. It makes me ill that celebrities that were already too skinny lose even more weight. Gwen Stefani was about my size, but she went and lost 30-40 lbs before her first major hit. I would be so very ill if I lost that much weight!

When will cellulite be attractive? :D

You have a good attitude that I admire. I have become a victim of society, so that I care more what other people think than how I feel. I admire that you can be happy with yourself. I'll admit that, even when I was unhealthily thin, I still wasn't happy with myself. So props for you, chicky!!!

Thanks! It took me a long time to get to this point. I always used to worry about what other people would think of me. My mindset now is that this is me and if someone doesn't like it then that's their problem. Besides there are a lot of people that are beautiful on the outside, but are very ugly on the inside.:)

This is a real model: http://www.geocities.com/FashionAvenue/Catwalk/9405/
I dated a catalog model ("women's Intmates") & she had a personality that matched the others.
...yep, she's gone:)...can I get an AMEN!:)
