flyingmontana 1 #1 July 19, 2011 My rig is in my trailer and I can't go to the dropzone for a few more days--meaning it's going to have been in there for about a week in this intense heat wave. The trailer is locked so I can't have someone get it out for me, and it's not well ventilated. Should I be worried about damage?
JohnRich 4 #2 July 19, 2011 A few days isn't going to hurt it, but I wouldn't make a practice of doing it all the time. The only thing likely to be affected then is that the rubber bands would degrade into sticky goo.
billvon 2,990 #3 July 20, 2011 AAD batteries are affected by heat. They are way "overspec'd" (i.e. have far more life than they need) but long enough in severe heat can age them rapidly. Pay close attention to the self test next time you turn it on, and it might not hurt to open the reserve container and just take a look if it would make you feel better. flyingmontana 1 #4 July 21, 2011 Thanks to both of you for the responses. Sounds like I should have a rigger take a look, and repack it before jumping again? With the temperatures over 100 degrees today, I'm worried about those melting rubber bands...

It's up to you. It is very unlikely to cause you trouble, but if it would make you feel better, there is certainly no reason _not_ to do it. Also, asking a local rigger might make you feel better. (He will almost certainly say "don't worry about it" but that will give you the opportunity to ask him about things like those rubber bands, AAD batteries etc.)
Morrison79 0 #6 July 22, 2011 You should repack it yourself before jumping again
jumpsalot-2 3 #7 July 22, 2011 I trashed a Dytter once by leaving my helmet in my car, in a helmet bag, in the Summer for a week or two. Not just the battery, but the device. Now, if heat could trash a Dytter, it could trash an AAD.Life is short ... jump often.
aeroflyer 0 #8 July 22, 2011 I've asked the same question before but for a hot car.. if it is summertime there and 100 degrees outside I would definitely get it looked at / repacked. Up to you but 100 degrees outside could mean a lot more inside.
