Byron Boogie countdown and rollcall.. woohoo!

Recommended Posts

Thank you, I will definitely have Joel pack for me. It's sad because I have a Spectre, but the openings have never been as soft as my openings on all the other Spectres that I have jumped. (Maybe my trim is off?) Those had the loooooooooongest snivels EVER!!!

I must have set one toggle the wrong way because my right toggle holder was ripped completely off, and I went into a deep spin on opening! :o B| Ouch...

Ask Chopchop to show you the psycho pack. If I can do it, you can do it! I figured out today that he's already saved me $250 in packing fees since Memorial Day.

Chop Chop showed me on Saturday, but I think I am going to stick to pro-packing for now. I haven't jumped it yet, but it sure looks like it is going to be nice and soft!

I always roll the nose pretty good, since I want soft openings when I wear a camera.

What the hell is a psycho pack? Does it hurt? Is it easier than the regular packing routine (over the shoulder, etc.). I'm asking because I have the worst time packing, or trying to pack.

I just found this website, as I wanted to read up on it a little more as well:

http://precision.aerodynamics.com/psycho/psycho_pack.htm

According to chopchop they hurt less ;) it looks like they should open fairly slow.

You still separate the lines over your shoulder, but before you throw it on the ground, you put a twist in the lines. Then you do a little fixing and straightening here and there before you roll it into the bag like a sleeping bag. After that, you take the line twist out and everything else is the same. It's mostly just an alternate way to get it in the bag if you're having trouble with the pro-pack.

Yep, yep, that too. It's really quite amazing to me that I get as good as openings that I do, considering that I haven't been packing that long. Plan accordingly for that slow opening.

The main reason to psycho-pack is ease for getting the canopy in the bag.. Openings are similar to a pro-pack.. it is just way easier to control all that nylon when it is rolled up like a sleeping bag than when you do the ess-fold.. especially on a slick new canopy. Easier makes it faster.. Now.. people that are already pretty experienced pro-packers would probably not find this any faster.. For both skymama and ladyskydiver, it helped them alot as they simply could not get their canopies in the bag when they tried to pro-pack.. I taught them the psycho-pack and Voila! they were both packing on their own. As far as your openings hurting.. there are ways to slow down the openings on a pro-pack as well as a psycho-pack.. Your openings shouldn't hurt. B| Catch me at the boogie and we'll take a looka t what you are doing.. B|

A trick I use to get the canopy in the bag fairly easy is to fold the top first, stick it in the bag, and then fold the bottom in. This has the same end result as when you fold it completely outside the bag, it's just easier to get it in.
I had a really hard time when I just got my canopy, and someone showed me that trick, and it works for me.

Paul from Byron taught me a little trick with my Spectre that's made my packing so much nicer and easier. It doesn't look as nice as the psycho pack but it works for me.

I'll show you if you want or you can ask Paul. He's probably much better at explaining it.

Hi all!

Amazon finally convinced me to stop lurking the forum and go and "boogie" for 3 days ;)
I'll share the drive with her.

About myself: I started skydiving in France a while ago, got about 70 jumps before taking a 3 year break. I'm back in the sky (Snohomish - Seattle sky) since May. ' hope I 'll never stop again!
Got about 80 jumps this summer and am waiting for my C#!

I'm excited!!! This is my 1st boogie :)

Look fwd to having some fun with all,

eMmanuel

I am on the verge of making a special offer on some digital stills to insure that your brother sees you do the depleted uranium lemon-flavored anvil imitation you do so well.

Thanks Deuce! That is funny as hell. I'm going to plagiarize the hell out of this. The little bastard is supposed to call me soon to tell me when he's coming out here and how long he can stay.....hehehehehe.
