Mayhem 0 #1 September 30, 2003 Ok so here is my rant. The Byron Boogie was awesome...up until the the bitch manifest ladies would not refund any tickets. It didn't matter who or when they bought the tickets, the answer was still NO! Even for those who didn't live any where near the area. I have NEVER heard of a DZ that didn't refund tickets unless it was to the "home" jumpers. ------------------------------------------------------------ What have you done to make your life better? Amazon 7 #2 September 30, 2003 Whoa... just use them next year.... I managed to sell off my 3 extras to the guy who did the impromptu rodeo on my back on a tracking dive. when it looked like it was a wind blowout they were doing thier best to put buyers with sellers. This boogie is definitely on my boogie schedule for next year.. with the Lost Prairie Boogie... Jeanne
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #3 September 30, 2003 QuoteI managed to sell off my 3 extras to the guy who did the impromptu rodeo on my back on a tracking dive. HEY, he took MY spot! Yes, I WILL rodeo you in Eloy, Amazon. Btw, you are a wonderful lady, Jeanne. It was a pleasure meeting you! Hmmm...I didn't even TRY to sell my leftover tickets. I assumed that I would be able to use them when I return to Byron. (I have three leftover, in case anyone wants to buy them for a bargain price $50.00 for 3!) I assumed that I would have to buy MORE, but then I left a wee bit earlier than planned...
Amazon 7 #4 September 30, 2003 Hey Rosa.. I am sooooo sorry you were not feeling well...but Eloy should rock.... whatever you did this time... DO NOT do it before Eloy And yes.. its REALLY hard to stay level with a tracking dive when some little guy was hanging on my back....lol... I got back up here.. and NO worries about sunburn here.. it was misting and gray.....like it will be for probably the next 6 months here.... I will start working on my canopy skills I guess... as soon as my Samarai arrives... Jeanne

chopchop 0 #6 September 30, 2003 Wow! the hostility! Yeah.. the policy sucks.. but they were hooking people up with local jumpers that were buying the tickets.. We normally pay $180 for a block of 10. I bought 1 for $18 and one for $15. I know it's less than the boogie rate of $19 but we had to pay $19 during the Boogie also and I ended up with a few of my own $19 tickets. So.. $3 down the tube.. Oh, well, it was a great boogie.. Anyone that wants to get rid of their tickets, send me a PM.. chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures
skymama 37 #7 September 30, 2003 Wow, this thread is an eye-opener. I had no idea some boogies do that. My question is, did they tell you ahead of time that the tickets were non-refundable? If so, I think I would have been buying them one at a time! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

Could you imagine the WFFC ticket sales window if everyone was buying one at a time? It's your life, live it! AggieDave 6 #9 September 30, 2003 Are you sure that they wouldn't just get your name and mail you a check the next week? I've seen that before, since refunds on the fly can really really really screw up the money and their books. Remember, they were only doing their job and what they were told to do by the DZO, don't get upset at the people on the front line.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." gjhdiver 0 #10 September 30, 2003 QuoteOk so here is my rant. This normally is not the policy at the Byron Boogie, but this year the organization was different. The boogie was not put on by the drop zone for the first time in it's history, but by Gravity Gear. Byron essentially hosted the event and the manifestors donated their time free. Because of this, Gravity Gear had the arrangement with Skydive Arizona for the aircraft, and was responsible for the fees. Byron's manifest was separate essentially from this arrangement. Therefore they had to use different tickets for the Arizona airccraft, and didn't have the ability to refund. They would however, honor those tickets for their own plane, the King Air, which was nice, considering that they were not obliged to do so. If you have a complaint about that non refund polcicy, it's probably better directed at Gravity Gear for a full explanation. That's how I understand it anyway. I would imagine that there will be plenty of Byron jumpers here that will take the tickets off your hands though, so I wouldn't worry too much. You could also just sav them until next year and use them again.
vdschoor 0 #11 September 30, 2003 I bought about 5 tickets from EC14, he had to get rid of them. Anyways, same here, if you want to get rid of yours, send me a PM.. I will pay you through Paypal. Iwan
Mayhem 0 #12 September 30, 2003 Don't get me wrong I had fun at the boogie. The problem is that I was there the first day and bought tickets before the first load even went up (who wants to buy a ticket everytime they jump?). At no time did anyone say anything, or have anything posted, about not being able to refund tickets. They didn't bring that up until later in the day when it was already to late. And as far as I'm concerned I can't afford to swallow a few 19 dollar ticket...yes I could sell to someone else at a rebate price, but I work hard for my money and saved for this trip. Why should I get bent over fucked out of my money when I'm there supporting them and their boogie. The manifesters also stated that it was the DZ's policy not to refund and always had been, not Gravity Gear. ------------------------------------------------------------ What have you done to make your life better? bendywendy 0 #13 September 30, 2003 Maybe you shouldn't be so harsh on the manifest people - they are just doing their job. I work manifest not in Byron but if someone asked me to to refund something that I couldn't and then got nasty in a public forum I wouldn't be very happy and it isn't right. Take it up with management and if it was clearly posted or told to you that the tickets were not refundable then it really is your own problem. Lighten up on the girls. bendywendy 0 #14 September 30, 2003 Yes, lots of boogies do it. It would be a real hassle if everyone bought too many tickets and rushed the offices on the last day demanding all their money back. It would require that the organizers keep tons of extra money on hand and stay open late to accomodate everyone. So buy in moderation. And when DZ's and boogies sell blocks of tickets they are almost always non-refundable - they sell you the block at a deal price - figuring that if you buy and jump more that it will be worth losing a few bucks in the long run. If you then turn around and try to refund what you don't use - then the whole quantity advantage is lost. I get yelled at all the time by people who buy blocks while on vacation, are told they are non-refundable or transferrable for any reason and then guess what - they don't use them all and want their money back. Then I'm suddenly a bytche and horrible person because they don't understand non-refundable for any reason. Oh yeah, I forgot each one of us is incredibly, incredibly special and should be exempt from the rules....

The manifesters also stated that it was the DZ's policy not to refund and always had been, not Gravity Gear. You shouldn't but this is how it just is, and always has been. Next weekend there are 15 dollar jumps, well, tickets are normally 18 bucks (if you buy a block of tickets, otherwise 19) They will not refund us 3 dollars when we jump next Saturday, they will give you back a 3 dollar jumpticket, so you collect a couple and you get a new jump ticket. Listen, I offer 18 bucks (normal block price) for the tickets, and just stop wining.. there were enough people that would be willing to buy the tickets from you, they probably ran out of cash so they didn't come up to you. Payment will be sent through Paypal after I received the tickets from you. PM me for details. Did you have a great time at the boogie or not? I think you did, just like all of us. So don't let these couple of 19 dollar tickets ruin it all for you. Iwan
Mayhem 0 #16 September 30, 2003 Like I said before, yes I had fun at the boogie, and yes I know people were willing to buy tickets. The manifesters were doing their job…fine, no problem, I understand that. But they were rude about it and there was no need to be. And when it was mentioned to the manager, even he had to ask “why?” on the no refunds. I suppose they charge tandems the whole price of a jump after they get in the harness, even if they chicken out and don’t get on the plane. It’s like getting shity service at a nice restaurant, sure the meal may have been great, but you’re gonna remember the poor customer service over everything else and it will taint you image of the place. It’s more of principle thing. ------------------------------------------------------------ What have you done to make your life better?
bendywendy 0 #17 September 30, 2003 At all the dropzones I've worked at tandems have the option of backing out up until they get on the plane. If they freak out and don't jump after they get to altitude then yeah - they don't get their money back. They've been trained, they've been waited on, they've been harnessed, they've had a wonderful plane ride - especially when they get the rollercoaster dive back to the ground - so no refund. Mayhem 0 #18 September 30, 2003 Yeah that makes since, but I'm saying if they don't get on the plane, and they are harnessed. ------------------------------------------------------------ What have you done to make your life better?
