sssbc99 0 #1 September 29, 2003 This might not get a whole lot of responses but anyways.... Do any of you guys/girls brew their own beer and if so, what are some good recipes you have done recently?
Jimbo 0 #2 September 29, 2003 I haven't made anything since I started a mead back in June. I do have a pretty kick ass Brown ale and a Scotch ale in bottles though. Oh, the mead has magically cleared in the last few days. Time to tweak the flavors and bottle. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed. FliegendeWolf 0 #3 September 30, 2003 I just last week cracked open my new Oktoberfest. OK, a little early, but tasty as all hell. In fact, I think I'll go open one now. Thanks for the reminder! SunWukong 0 #4 September 30, 2003 I haven't really brewed any beer since I was president of our college's beer brewing club. It was a friend who had the magic touch for it. Anyway, my favorite two recipes were Nosfaratu's Return, which is a really strong ale made with lots of grains and something like a half pound of honey, and Cram Session Porter, which is brown porter with half a pound of fine-ground French Roast boiled along with the malt and grains. I can get detailed instructions if you want. Also, any pale ale made with Cascade hops is pretty much bound to be good.
Jimbo 0 #5 September 30, 2003 QuoteAlso, any pale ale made with Cascade hops is pretty much bound to be good. Yeah, I used to think that too. Now I'm getting all excited about Columbus hops. Those things are freakin' brutal! - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
skybeergodd 0 #6 September 30, 2003 I brew my own beer and do about 6 to 8 cases each year....it might not sound like alot but thats alot of work. I have some great recipes for a dark ale and a light english ale....those are my two favorites to make.
SunWukong 0 #7 September 30, 2003 QuoteNow I'm getting all excited about Columbus hops. Those things are freakin' brutal! What's the alpha? Even on a pale ale you can overdo it and end up with something like Hop Devil, which is a decent microbrew but pretty much a one-trick pony in terms of flavor. Jimbo 0 #8 September 30, 2003 Hop Devil is nasty, IMO. There are better Pale Ales out there, I'm a big fan of the DogFish Head 60 Minute IPA. Anyhow, the AAs on the Columbus hops are usually around 15%. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
