321seeya 0 #1 September 29, 2003 I found the fact that I could easily access satelite aerial phots of any area in America a little disturbing. I was able to access aerial photos of Airforce bases, Military installations and even our DZ and my house THE WHITE HOUSE! You can pan the area, and get detailed topographical maps and ect.... I have included some photos....The resolution is not very good because I had to reduce them to post them here, but the actual phots are very clear. Makes you wonder...... wildblue 7 #5 September 29, 2003 How about the Pentagon? http://www.terraserver-usa.com/image.aspx?S=11&T=1&X=804&Y=10760&Z=18&W=1&ref=F|Pentagon%2c+Virginia If it makes you feel any better, most of the photos are 10 - 15 years old... ... of course, that makes you wonder what they can actually see now, huh? it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
321seeya 0 #6 September 29, 2003 I messed the pics up changing them over to JPEG from BMP...But I can zoom in on our hangar and actually read the tail numbers on the aircraft... kallend 2,108 #8 September 29, 2003 How many people voluntarily place a microphone in their bedroom/study/living room/etc. without knowing for sure who may be listening? Do you know that your phone is not connected to anyplace just because it appears to be hung up?... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. wildblue 7 #9 September 29, 2003 QuoteDo you know that your phone is not connected to anyplace just because it appears to be hung up? No! That's why I don't have one! And the foil over the windows keep the listening devices confused. And the cast-iron pan I wear around the house keeps the the mind readers from seeing what I'm thinking. The dog though... fasterfaller 0 #11 September 29, 2003 Thats not very scary at all . What is scary is the amount of information you can find out about a person in five minutes on the internet . Everyone wonders why there is so much identity theft should just look at their computer screen .
freeflir29 0 #12 September 29, 2003 I was sitting at work one day in the Air Force screwing around on the net. I found it funny that Terra Server had blocked pics of Pope, AFB but you could get nice 1 meter pics of "The compound that doesn't exist." *Shrug* No big deal really....looking at pics is a LONG way from doing anything with them. Even if the US blocked images from our sources the Russians have been selling this kind of stuff for a long time. So...it's out there....no reason to panic.
