What do you want to know?... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

JeffD 0 #6 September 28, 2003 Well I know of 2 ways to do this. 1. Rig up a release mechanism that will pull a pin out of a holding ring (around whatever your dropping) using a servo. but this requires mounting whatever your dropping on the bottom. 2. Rig up a vertical pole so the CG will not be affected and then slide whatever you are going to drop on the top of it. (some what like a model rocket launch pad). Then when you are going to drop it just do an aileron roll /stay inverted and it will fall off. *note #1 is good for aim, #2 is cheap and easy.
dropdeded 0 #7 September 28, 2003 Wow, cool. sounds do able. johnnypilot 0 #8 September 28, 2003 there are numerous things that you can do with a little inginuity. I have dropped little parachute guys by putting them in a cup on top of the wing and then roling the plane inverted..drops out rather easy..Hint is to make sure that you make him heavy enough..I first used a GI Joe and he ended up being way too light for the parachute and actually didnt fall to the ground but drifted up into oblivion.. I later launched a model rocket from the wing. all you need is an extra channel that allows a servo to push the launch button..but beware..I put the rocket on the left wing and the launcher on the right wing. When it launched, the plane yawed to the right about 90 degrees due to the thrust of the rocket..It was worth it though. I know you can make bomb bay doors..what kind of plane do you have?
