quade 4 #1 September 23, 2003 Ok, so it's the first day of fall and it's time to begin what used to be an annual tradition back in the good ol' days on AvSig. Here's how it works. We all know the old joke about Santa taking a check ride with the FAA -- right? No? You're kidding me! Really! You don't know the worlds second oldest joke in aviation? Ok, read this; Quote An FAA inspector goes to check out Santa. They meet, and Santa shows him the fully loaded sleigh. The inspector checks out the equipment, the load balance, etc. "Everything's looking good, Mr. Claus, so it's time we move on to the flight test." They board the sleigh. "Why are you carrying a shotgun?," asks Santa. The FAA inspector replies, "Well, I'm not really supposed to tell you this, but in this test, you're going to lose one on take off. Ok, so that's the joke. Funny, yeah, a bit, but at least 40 years old. So here's how the contest works; Make a prediction about the date you think this joke is going to be told for the first time this season by a newbie right here on dropzone.com. No cheating. No getting your neighbors to log on and do it tomorrow, because this contest is really about having a good laugh at the person that tells the joke and it's kind of a dubious honor. We'll even make him (or her) buy beer for his DZ if we do this right. So, it's all about the subtle humiliation factor of the newbie being "first" to tell it. Please don't spoil this joke!
