skybytch 273 #2 September 22, 2003 I don't drink much wine, but when I do I'm partial to California Cabernet Sauvignon's, particulary those from wineries on the Central Coast (Paso Robles, Templeton, etc). Excellent with a thick juicy steak.

Vertifly 0 #10 September 22, 2003 Chianti usually. (that's a red) Preferably the ones with the rooster on the label. This just means that it's shipped from the Firenze region of Italy.

FLsurfer 0 #14 September 22, 2003 I'm not much of a wine drinker but when I do partake, it's always a Rioja. Marques de Caceres and Marques de Riscal are two labels that come to mind. Everytime that I've brought a bottle or two to a social event, everyone asks about it and where to buy. Problems just be opportunities in der workin' clothes. mailin 0 #15 September 22, 2003 ah yes... I'm super partial to Italian and now Australian reds. Chianti is a personal favorite, and like someone send you would need to get the ones with the rooster on the label as that would mean 'chianti country' - and vintage year 1997, by far the best year. Its a 'spicy' wine, really good with beef dishes. Shiraz is a relative new red - from Australia, and VERY good! There's a line of Australian wines that are fairly inexpensive and very good - Yellow Tail. They carry a few different reds and they are all very good in my opinion. Also a spicy wine, but no where near as 'strong' as the chianti. I prefer this with Chicken and Beef. Merlot you have to be careful with - lots of different quality differences so I try to steer clear. I've had good luck with only a few CA vineyards. Merlot is a good 'cheese' wine for the most part. And french wine - have yet to find a french red that I like; as a matter of fact they make me want to spit. LOL Good luck - but really, try the Yellow Tail - very good! kmcguffee 0 #21 September 22, 2003 Boone's Farm is a favorite. I'm not sure if it is red or white though. A nice Barley Wine like Young's Old Nick beats a grape wine any day.
