Cool pic of H Isabel?....

Recommended Posts

I have spent several YEARS at sea on small boats.. sailing.. and I can assure you that if that was a storm of ANY magnitude the surface would not be that calm. I have seen fog banks that look pretty ominous.. or where upwelling is accuring and the coolness of the water coming up from great depth is very cold and hits warm air... looks very strange... but not like this photo.
I have also been in a fog bank off of Point Conception up to Morro Bay that was in winds blowing 40 knots.. and you could barely see the front of the boat... but if you climbed up the mast 10 ft you could see the hills on shore just 20 miles away and its crystal clear.. and even more strange.. dense fog whenever you go into the trough of a 20 foot wave.. and crystal clear on the crests... strange things happen at sea.. but when there is a hurricane out and about.. the waves spread out from them... ocean wide.

I was too freakin scared to take my Nikon on deck for pictures in a real hurricane at sea... everything was lashed down.. and just to go out of the companionway meant having on a survival suit.. and an offshore harness clipped onto the lifelines...othewise I would have some serious pictures...:o
