12 jumped dropzones in 14 hours

Recommended Posts

Yesterday at 7.00am (lt) 18 skydivers started from EFHF (Malmi airport) and used Twin Otter of Parachuting Club of Finland. Actual plan was 11 jumped dropzones in one day (last year we did 10) and so we did it in following order;
EFKY; Kymi
EFSE; Selänpää
EFUT; Utti
EFLP; Lappeenranta (1reserve ride but we got 2 rigs as reserve)
EFIM; Immola
EFSA; Savonlinna
EFVR; Varkaus
EFMI; Mikkeli
EFLA; Vesivehmaa
EFHY; Hyvinkää
EFHF; Malmi (homedz)

This all took 11 hours and all 18 did it.

Four of us did not get enough so when Otter started from Malmi to Hanko airport for jumping camp we were in it and jumped one more time so four of us got 12 dropzones in 14 hours.

Is it 13 jumped dropzones next year? No, 13 means bad luck so I think we will try 14... ;)

If someone have same kind of tours, please let us know...

About half of those was hop and pops because of the weather (btw, reserve ride was one of those) but other half was something between 5000-7000ft.

After three dropzones it looked that we must go back and forget rest of the airports but...

One of us was "master of the cypres&altimeter" and before take off he told everybody how to adjust their gear for the next dz

Last Wednesday (9/10) four jumpers from Vaasa in Finland beat the record by jumping 18 dropzones in one day!

I'm sorry I dont remember the ICAO codes for the fields.

#1 Kruunupyy
#2 Kannus
#3 Kalajoki
#4 Ylivieska
#5 Haapavesi
#6 Kärsämäki
#7 Kiuruvesi
#8 Pyhäsalmi
#9 Pihtipudas
#10 Kivijärvi
#11 Sulkaharju
#12 Kauhava
#13 Menkijärvi
#14 Alavus
#15 Seinäjoki
#16 Nummijärvi
#17 Kauhajoki
#18 Vaasa (Home Dropzone)

The jumpplane used was the Cessna 182 of our club OH-CWE. The flight time was 5h 43min and the jumpers spent over 6h packing!

Quite an achievement IMHO
Congratulations! ;)

Congrats B|. We'll wait for word of of 10 in the winter -- now that would be impressive (well, 20 is impressive, too)

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
