Amazon 7 #2 September 9, 2003 Golf is Evil ..... the men in my family are all golfoholics..and claim its good exercise.... this while riding all 18 holes on a golf cart. Now if they got out and actually WALKED all 7000 yards maybe I might buy its a little bit of exercise. Amazon

RevJim 0 #8 September 10, 2003 Yep. Well, I used to, and still do, sorta. I started golfing when I was 6 (that's 26 years ago). I worked on golf courses for many years. From 8 years old to 16 (1987), I helped my father, who was the greenskeeper for Cedar Springs Golf Course, Manawa, WI. From 1991 to 1993 I was greenskeeper at that same course. 1994 I was on the grounds crew for Waupaca Country Club, Waupaca, WI (private club). 1995 to 1997 I was Asst. Superintendant of New London Country Club, New London, WI. During that stretch of time, I never had to pay to play. Naturally, I got quite good, since I was able to play daily, for free. I managed to get down to a 3 handicap (for 18 holes). That said, that shit is expensive now! A decent championship course here (Fox Fire) will run you $45 for 18 holes and a cart, WEEKDAYS! For this reason, I have not golfed at all this year, one 18 hole round last year, and probably 6 - 10 rounds total since leaving the greens and grounds indusrty. It's your life, live it! I can get hours more of entertainment than most people from them. Unstable 9 #11 September 10, 2003 I have a friend who is very serious in the sport - and in talking to her i was shocked to find out how much money a play can put into a set of clubs. It would be a challenge to put all that $$ into a rig!!!! Blue Ones,=========Shaun ==========
quack 0 #12 September 10, 2003 Yeah, I golf. I try to split my time between jumping and golfing now. I've also done demos at golf courses (always fun) and bring my clubs out to the dz in case of wind holds - a good way to practice the short game out at the tuffet. Hell, if the ceiling is that low, I'll run out and play 9 and then come back to the dz! But you have to understand, mental illness is like cholesterol. There is the good kind and the bad. Without the good kind- less flavor to life. - Serge A. Storms

jceman 1 #21 September 10, 2003 TLML and I used to play at least 36 holes per weekend and tried to play many different courses. It took me 25 years to get her to try the game and once she played, she was hooked. Then 6 years later we tried skydiving. We have not been on a golf course to play since May 1998.
