They cant be doctors cuz I really think this would be a violation of their oath to "do no harm" Perhaps its an effort to maintain an air of normalcy for the benenfit of the "patient" Maybe its to draw the whole thing out longer so they can torture the condemned for a teeny bit longer? The whole concept of "humane" execution is kinda silly. IF you wanna be humane, have someone sneak up behind them when they arent looking and put a bullet in their head. Lethal injection isnt even remotely humane. Its horrifying. If I was to be executed and had my coice of method (of the commonly used methods) I'd choose firing squad. Wouldn't it be worse on them to lock them up in a little tiny dingy room eating barely enough rotten food to keep them alive and really let the pay a price for their misdeeds (unless someone can prove that there is a hell that they are actually ending up in) Let the flaming and arguments begin - but that's just how I feel.
