sarge 0 #51 August 12, 2003 At Rantoul I... Found as many people who were getting wasted as getting in jumps... or both Heard of/saw at least twice as many people get injured on the ground that weren't skydiving ... despite the countless worst landings I have ever painfully endured spectating... Met at least three times as many brothers/sisters from everywhere as I had ever expected... ;ie. family reunion Four wheels will not keep a golf cart horizontal... they need out-riggers or something Discovered five jumpers are almost never first out... Realized a six of your own beers will get you by 'til the beer tent starts giving out free beer... Found it impossible (for me) to get seven jumps in one day... after 7 days Drank way more than I ate... Was amazed at how many jumpers were flying nine cell canopies... kinda... Had my only two-way with Bytch that had to go out at 10,000... life is like snow... you never know how high your gonna get or how long its gonna last Saw Bytch suck down eleven jello shots before I finished one beer... and she was up the next morning before I was Conclude finally, Burrito made me official (thanks Bro!) on a 12-way HD flock from the DC 3... At Twelve-O'clock AM the party is just getting started... At Twelve-O'clock Pm the clouds just start to clear -or- move in... It takes about twelve minutes to wait on average for a load not on weather hold... That contrary to popular belief; twelve beers is only a mild buzz... And... thank God WFFC is only 10 days and not twelve... Only 12 more months to do it again !!!!!!-- I'm done with the personally meaningful and philosophical sigs!! SkymonkeyONE 4 #52 August 12, 2003 At Rantoul I: Found it impossible to get past fourty people in my camper to get to my own bed. Found it very likely to find SunCheHag passed out on the couch in the dropzone.com tent. Found out it is NOT a shortcut to cross the bean field when coming back from the RV park in the middle of the night. Remembered how good Scotty Carbone's chow was. I ate their every night but one. Had no problem finding a clean porta-potty with plenty of TP anywhere I went. Had the coolest golf cart......PERIOD Chuck
peek 21 #53 August 12, 2003 At Rantoul I... . Do you guys not look like your pictures or did you just avoid me? . It seems like everyone says they were there but I only met a few of you who came up and introduced yourselves. . LOOP 10 . Went to the LO tent early in the morning . Skydived until dark . Took a shower . Went to the beer trailer . Went to the food tent . Got more beer, listened to the band . Went to sleep at 10PM ENDLOOP . (At the WFFC I'm like an animal with a small territory.) . . Some of the highlights were: . Saw Rob and Vicki Ebbing!!! Saw Marta!!! It was beginning to feel like the early days. . Saw and talked to a few dz.commers that I had never met, like Kallend, Blue, Sangiro, etc. . Went by the dropzone.com tent on drop zone row. Everyone always seemed quite coherent, but of course this was during the day, usually during weather holds. .

happythoughts 0 #71 August 13, 2003 At Rantoul, I did 20+ jumps. 5 magic carpets, 2 rw jumps, and the rest were inflatables of some kind. We even tossed Jess out of the plane on one. We got our sea monster back 4 times, but lost it on the 5th. The final raft jump was a 17-way with 4 people in the raft. We also launched our inflatable campsite chair on the last day. Final count - 1 chair, 3 rafts, 2 alligators, 2 sea monsters, 3 caterpillars. I visited the dz.com tent and did a little drinking at various spots. Met scads of new people. riddler 0 #72 August 13, 2003 Gather 'round the campfire little dz.com chillun, and let Uncle Riddler tell you a story about the way it was in Rantoul, Illinois, way back in aught-three. There was some jumping to be had for sure. I did my 200th skydive there, surrounded by friends and instructors alike. I bruised my tailbone on one hard landing, making me miss a day, but toughed out some hard openings on my sore ass and jumped the remaining 5 days. I did my first demo ever to open the freefall convention, followed by three more over the next two weeks, accompanied by the largest flag flown by a skydiver anywhere in the world. I hung upside down from a biplane and sat through 3,000 feet of clou - errr, haze. But all of that is moot when talking to other skydivers. Others have better stories, cleaner video, and more kick-ass skydives than I ever had or ever will. The really cool shit was happening on the ground. Dz.com did represent. SkymonkeyONE and LouDiamond were there showing others how to fly like a bird, rather than drop like a rock - if these two were any cooler, they wouldn't need a plane to get to altitude. Vallerina is so drop-dead gorgeous that by all rights, I should be dead from meeting her. RevJim was there sporting a nice pink highlight and I even got to jump with him on a demo. I never thought I would ever be fortunate enough to see any part of Jasmine naked, but after witnessing the wet t-shirt contest, I realize that there is a God, and he does in fact love me. But my secret dz.com crush will always be for B^2, and although I didn't get to jump with her, the fantasy of doing so keeps me motivated to live. Many, many of my weekend buddies were there at Kamp Colorado. And of course, the big chief himself was there and a kind and benevolent leader he is. The liquor flowed even more than the rains from the heavens that put a damper on much of our fun. I apologize for any and all of the things I said and did whilst in a state of non-sobriety, alcohol induced or otherwise. I spent many mornings at the Internet Cafe earning jump money to little or no avail. "Working vacation" my butt, I couldn't even remember what day it was. But that didn't stop me from getting the second largest contract of my life. Ironically, the biggest contract was won on a conference call from home while having naked intercourse with another dz.commer, but that is a story for another time. I'm a freeflyer, through and through. But I have this to say about RW - when it's good, it's really good. Of course, doing a 4-way with flyangel2, BillVon and Amy drastically improves your chances of turning a lot of points in 60 seconds and Amy was draggin' my butt around like a dance teacher trying to waltz with a drunken, one-legged baboon. But we got a fair number of points out of it, enough for me to rationalize buying a $300 pit suit from Tony. Overall, I would say that WFFC '03 was a raging success, as measured by the happiness of one mere skydiver. But like all other skydivers, I have to admit, it's all about me.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

SkymonkeyONE 4 #74 August 13, 2003 At Rantoul I saw: Chris Martin (GroundZero) take Beezy Shaw for $300 in an electric scooter drag race. It was an epic event! Chris had only paid $150 for his scooter. The most unlikely group of people most folks could imagine being friends, all sitting out in chairs laughing at the masses passing them by. Incredible fun. More South Africans in any one spot than I have ever encountered.
