No titanium for poor shadow. They are actually not going to fuse or set the bone. Sice the break occured right before the ball on the hip joint, they said the best course of action would be to do a new femoral head proceedure. They took out the old broken head of the bone, sanded down the other half, and are going to allow it to heal into possition. They said that it will take a while to heal completely but, with in a few months the ligaments and muscles will hold it in place properly.

I just got word from the Vet... Shadow isn't doing too good. He seems to be in a great deal of pain, a lot more so than they thought he would be in . They say he is healthy though and should still fully rcover, but it may take longer than origionally believed. Looks like I have to pay for another night in the kitty hospital. I think he needs a bit more support. Thos bastards won't even let Sarah and I visit the poor thing.

Wow, that sucks that you can't visit! The animal hospital where my cat is encourages the owners to visit! Are the Dr.s giving Storm some good pain killers to relax???? Poor lil guy, hope he feels better soon - and talk to the Dr.s about visiting - that's jacked up!!!!

yep i got one that did that too only he got out and we dont know what got him.his femur was in like 3 or 4 pieces and we paid 450 to get suckbaby (he sucks on blankets towels etc. hence the name) fixed up.THEN we had to keep him crated for 6 weeks to keep the rod in his let from betting banged around.all this for a stray cat.the vet did neuter him for free.so now the suckbaby don go outside no more.good luck.***if you are going to be stupid you better be tough

Well, I talked to the Doc about the cat. They are dosing him up on lots of drugs, and today/tonight they may let us visit.

The didn't want us to visit before cuz the cat was still in the ICU, and they didn't want to move him.

I got a call late last night with some good news finally. He is now starting to eat, and he has been trying to get up and walk around..even puting weight on his bad leg. She said he is doing 1000 times better and is being very affectionate.

If today he is even better we may be able to take him home. As much as I miss him though, I would rather he stay there where they can give hime drugs.

Shadow is now at home. He is in a bunch of pain, but we are just letting him rest. A pic of the scar is attached.
