vonSanta 0 #8 August 24, 2003 Heh, this might be what he DESERVED, but it certainly isn't JUSTICE. Justice would be him paying whatever he's been sentenced to pay - money, his freedom or his life. In this case it'd be his freedom. Like it or not, his punishment was removal of freedom, not death. The state has failed to keep up its obligations here. To be the devil's advocate here (just check out my avatar), it's akin to you being raped in the buttie when you were supposed to just get a fine for driving too fast. Justice applies to everyone - good and bad. We gotta remain objective even if our feelings are strong. Having said that; hope ya brought some sun creme, Mr Priest, coz it's gonna be hot for an eternity for ya. If it was your child that took it up the ass by this fucker your attitude would be different. And based on your post I would assume you don't have any children? Am I right? I think death was too nice of a punishment for that bastard. They should have tied him to a stake in the court yard and let the children stone him month after month year after year as their therapy. Stone him, let him heal.. Stone him let him heal. Let the children and the parents of the children get some WELL DISERVED PAYBACK!!!!!!!!!! Justice WAS served. Rhino I don't really think it was justice, more of a "oh that's too bad" Though your stoning idea is GREAT, I feel we should never be cruel. Doing so takes us to their level. I think after the guilty verdict is read they should be taken out back and shot. Its not cruel, just justice __________________________________________________ "Beware how you take away hope from another human being." -Oliver Wendell Holmes
vonSanta 0 #12 August 24, 2003 Very much depends on what you call justice. I was referring to the legal bit of things. This may not be harsh enough for you as things are. Sharia laws are a bit harsher. Cut off hands for stealing, or legs. Stone women who've been adulterous. Perhaps here the punishment is more to your liking? I am being argumentative, of course. My point is that 'justice' is whatever we as a society define as such. And we're supposed to be objective and cold - justice being blind and all. Again, I agree that he deserved it. I do not, however, believe in 'mob vigilante justice'. It just ain't the latter.
