Muenkel 0 #78 August 12, 2003 For Oldnewbie and anyone else who asked for me to keep them updated. I went to the doc today and am being referred to an ENT specialist, hopefully within a couple days. Most likely they will do an MRI as an injury like this would not show on XRay. If there is a tear or hole, what the treatment is, I have no clue. I know this is not earth-shattering and nothing compared to what Lew is going through right now. I just want you folks to be careful while jumping with sinus conditions. Take it seriously. This has been over 6 weeks for me and sometimes its damned painful. But fortunately, I don't at all believe there is a permanent injury. Blue skies and fly safe, Chris _________________________________________ Chris
Muenkel 0 #79 August 13, 2003 Hey peeps, please keep the vibes coming...like I have to ask. Spoke to my doc today. She did extensive research and made many phone calls in regard to my symptoms. She believes there is bleeding going on and is making an appt. with an ENT specialist asap. This is not critical but serious enough to warrant immediate attention. Also, I am scheduled to fly to Nashville on the 21st and now have to get the OK from the specialist. I really don't want to miss this trip. I guess I now officially have a skydiving related injury. Thanks folks, you're all great people. I have appreciated the kind words. My vibes to all of you who are going through your own difficulties. Muenkel 0 #84 August 14, 2003 http://www.vestibular.org/perilym.html Here's a link to what My Doctor is pretty certain I have. It describes exactly what I have been going through. I see the specialist tomorrow and hopefully will know for certain. Thanks again for the vibes. And my vibes go out to anyone who needs any right now. Michele 1 #85 August 14, 2003 Chris, in one of your AFF jumps, didn't you whack your head hard on landing? If you have this, that may be what's caused it. The good news is bed rest is the most common way to let these heal. Hey, sending more vibes to you. This sucks donkey *&^%, I tell ya. More and more vibes for you. Muenkel 0 #86 August 14, 2003 Yeah, I did have a pretty hard landing and do believe I had a minor concussion...although I did not seek medical treatment. But this situation definitely happened on my Cat. D-1 on June 28th. I know that for sure. Thanks for the vibes. Muenkel 0 #87 August 15, 2003 I received confirmation today that I do in fact have a perforation in the inner ear canal. The condition is called Perilymph Fistula. Tomorrow, I go to the hospital for more extensive testing and discussion on treatment. Keep the vibes coming, I really appreciate it. Right now, it does not appear I will be able to finish AFF this season. Hey, there are worse things that could happen. Trying to stay positive. Thanks, Chris _________________________________________ Chris
hooked 0 #88 August 15, 2003 Well, that really sucks, Chris. But, hey, you'll get it finished as soon as allowed. Your ear/hearing is way more important, right now.
