Insane Clown Posse - worst band ever

I was a little pissed that they included Emerson, Lake & Palmer as Number 2.

Insane Clown Posse Named Worst Rock Band

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Insane Clown Posse, the Detroit rap duo beloved by teenage boys for their creepy face make-up and X-rated lyrics, have been named the worst band ever by Blender magazine.

• Excerpt: The 50 Worst Artists in Music History (Blender)

The music publication's September issue said Insane Clown Posse "sound even stupider than they look," and derided them for rapping about "40-ouncers and venereal disease."

Officials at the band's Psychopathic Records label were less than enthusiastic about the rating.

"They've brought themselves up from nothing to become an international musical phenomena (sic), and yet, somehow, they still get no respect from fine mainstream publications such as Blender Magazine," they said in a Web posting (http://www.insaneclownposse.com).

They noted that the Insane Clown Posse album dubbed the worst by Blender, "The Wraith: Shangri-La," actually received a three-star review (i.e. very good in its genre) in the publication's January/February issue.

No. 2 on the list was 1970s supergroup Emerson, Lake & Palmer, followed by once-hirsute balladeer Michael Bolton (news), mellow jazz saxophonist Kenny G. and the Jefferson Airplane pop spinoff Starship.

While ICP is not my type of music, I hardly believe they could be the worst ever. There are way too many bands to compete for that title. (Starlight Vocal Band for example) And when I read articles like this, I remind myself that critics are merely people paid to foist their opinions off on the public. Just because they may be able to write and are forceful enough to state their opinions in public doesn't mean that they are right. It's all a matter of taste.

How exactly do you name the worst bands ever? Wouldn't the worst ones be those that you've never heard of?

you may have a point there. I mean, if some drunk hillbilly started a "band" that just had him hitting two stones together, wouldn't that be one of the worst ones ever?

Ever is a mighty long time....

Thinking, like, way back to when recording first started...
