LadyDi 0 #3 August 14, 2003 I'm in the mist of a career change now. Quit my career of 17 years and I'm starting back at school full-time to learn a new profession. Before making this big leap, I worked with a career coach to help me decide on a next career that was right for me. The last thing I wanted was to pick another career I would not be happy with. Then I did a lot of informational interviews, met with a financial planner, etc. It took a while to decide what I wanted to be when I grow up Good luck with whatever you do and my only piece of advice is to do your homework and plan. The second career is supposed to be better than the first!! (At least that's what I'm hoping!!)

kingbunky 3 #9 August 14, 2003 well, i drove a truck for 10 years, then went back to school and got into IT... why not try it the other way around? lots of travel, chances to jump at new dz's, nobody looking over your shoulder all day (well, most fleets have sattelite tracking, but they aren't physically looking over your shoulder!).... i'm seriously thinking about getting back into it in another 5 or 6 years, as soon as the kids are gone."Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." Tonto 1 #11 August 14, 2003 Mmm. I went the other way. 20 years of working as a bouncer and a bodyguard, and then got out of that just before 40 (and before I lost a client) and into IT. Now its AFF on weekends, and a job I can do when I'm old. (or when my legs are broken) tIt's the year of the Pig.

bwilling 0 #14 August 14, 2003 I got paid to drink beer once. Part of a market research study, and I swear, I literally got paid to drink beer, and give them my opinions on it. It's rare, but I have to tell you, it's really good work when you can get it. "If all you ever do is all you ever did, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got." CanuckInUSA 0 #17 August 14, 2003 Quotei've been writin software and handling puters for 20 years now. it's time for a change... any suggestions? I'm with you bro ... I've been in the computer biz since Dec of '84 and it's been a long haul. The career pays well, but I'm tired of the constant drive to meet schedules to keep management and investors happy (ultimately making someone else rich). But I honestly don't know where to turn myself (I've only been in the sport a little over one year, so I'm not about to become a tandem master or an AFF instructor). However, in a little over 100 jumps, I'll be able to try my hand at being a tandem videographer. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
