wlie 0 #26 August 7, 2003 I don't drive fast, the speed limit's too low White '92 Ford Escort GT - A/C and horn don't work, dashboard doesn't light, driver-side door only opens from the outside, it's got a vacumm leak somewhere even Ford mechanics can't locate, needs a new clutch, BUT still gets about 27 miles a gal.My other ride is the relative wind. Brokeneagle 0 #27 August 7, 2003 I usually drive 10-20 mph over the posted limit; more if I think I can get away with it; think it has a lot to do with all the auto racing my father and I watched together as a child and the fact he used to let me shift gears as he drove down the middle of the road, as we would both make racing noises with our mouths and pretend we were pitted against the other drivers....also mebbe the old kiddie movies of me in a baby carriage being shoved along back and forth quick enough to almost throw me out of the carriage had a hand in....?? Hmmmmm.... Faye. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says... he is giving me a reputation I do not deserve!
SkydiveNFlorida 0 #28 August 7, 2003 QuoteI made the home to DZ run of 95miles in just under an hour last friday night Last week I made the 135mi trip in 1.5hrs flat:D I coulda beat that it if I didn't have to pass thru town to cross over from turnpike from 95:D hehehe Um, yeah, too fast. freeflir29 0 #29 August 7, 2003 Usually stay within 10 MPH of the speed limit. A little closer if it's a really slow spot like 25 MPH. I have a Jeep but that's very shortly getting sold. Not quite sure what I want next. Thinking Honda Accord EX 2 door with leather and sunroof. They get good gas mileage and will last forever. Very sweet ride. I REALLY want a Subaru WRX but I'm too cheap to part with the 30G's of the price tag.
ltdiver 3 #30 August 8, 2003 QuoteWhite, non-descript, Saturn SC2. The idea here was to keep the car "boring" so as to not attract attention. So, yeah, systematic. I got all but one of my tickets in my white 1990 Acura Integra GS. Cops in my neighborhood seem to like the color white. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
ltdiver 3 #31 August 8, 2003 Quotemy foot seems to rest on the accelerator comfortable at 90 – 100 mph Is that the same leg that has trouble bending still? "Hey, Officer....my leg doesn't bend far enough! My foot HAS to rest that heavy on the gas pedal!" My therapist says so! MissMae 0 #37 August 8, 2003 Usually (lately at least) 10-15 faster, why... Because that is the flow of traffic most of the tme (plus I love speed), and I have a VW Golf TDI. When I rode my motorcycle I was pretty consistant with only 5-10 over, unless on a freeway that didn't have a lot of traffic... take the time to appreciate the people around you. thethinker 0 #39 August 11, 2003 I am really a speedster, i don't know why. I know the consequences, I am safe when I do it. Its mainly down backroads. I like to feel my cars pick up and just feel the wind blow i guess. I have a pos ford explorer right now, i miss my maxima, but I do love SUVS. andy2 0 #40 August 11, 2003 sometimes faster, usually on the way to the DZ. bch7773 0 #41 August 11, 2003 I used to drive really fast... 85 in a 65 all the time. However, two tickets really changed my mind, and now I try to keep within 5 mph of speed limit. also, I drive a nissan sentra MB 3528, RB 1182
KawiZX900 0 #42 August 11, 2003 in california if you're not going 80 you're getting passed, by everybody. 90-100 is speeding. 110 is racing and will get you on the news. Accelerate hard to get them looking, then slam on the fronts and rollright beside the car, hanging the back wheel at eye level for a few seconds. Zenister 0 #43 August 11, 2003 realizing we are all skydivers, and so have an addiction to speed others might not, but i think its pretty clear from this poll that very very few people actually drive the speed limit. which of course begs the question: If a majority of the population is 'breaking the law' on a regular basis, why isnt it changed? A: because then local governments would have to seek other more obvious means to extort money from their citizens to fund its bloated body..____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
