I agree with you, and have enjoyed your post!
All this has made me think this way:
as a Christian (that means I believe JESUS is who he said he is)
This is what to be expected from the world:
To be perfect in everything you say and do
To know the Bible inside and out and be able t o answer every question brought to you.
To forgive your enemies and pray
To never drink, smoke, drugs, cuss or laugh at funny
jokes.
To never work in government, (you cannot serve both)
To live the 10 commandments (not the 10 suggestions)
To not sin
To always keep it to yourself and never tell anyone about the Gospel (which means "the good news")
To go to church/fellowship and tithe.
To never get mad or depress, we're suppose to be happy in bad times because their a blessing of faith..sort of stuff.
To expect to be treated like SHIT!
Basically that how I feel about where the world is heading.
It's a do whatever you feel like, me generation, men having sex with other men (women, too) but that's okay because it's LOVE..and they have rights. I basically give-up on any notion that the world will change towards the better!

It's way too late(early, by now) for me to be able to organize my opinion on this thread into anything readable, but I really want to know if this one post was sarcasm or not, because it's somewhat self-contradictory and wavy. Right, goodnight.

Speaking of that, the "Pledge of Allegiance" is unconstitutional as well. (Haven't they had that taken out of schools now, or at least taken out the "under God" part of it???)

Unfortunately, they haven't. And I say unfortunately for two reasons--because some people feel that religion has no place in government (totally understood, that's what "freedom of religion" means), but also because this forces those who place all their faith in God to ALSO share that faith in the nation, and some people simply don't agree with that, either.
As for the results of this study, it's just like anything else. It's a solution when used properly. Just like if you use club soda properly, you can remove stains. But you can't force somebody to do it; they have to want to do it on their own, obviously.
And if not everyone is following through to the end, then they certainly aren't being FORCED into it...

Wow, I think perhaps rather than being bitter toward God, you should be bitter toward the church...
Your experience at 7 was NOT, in my opinion, the way God would have wanted it to be.
See, the Bible does say "love your neighbor as yourself", it does not give us the right to pass judgment on others, and it certainly doesn't tell us to give money to the church or go to hell...God doesn't need your money!
Anyway, the point is that I don't believe that all churches would be like that, and I'm glad you've found a religion that suits you...

Most excellent. I really mean that -- I have no personal objection to saying "under God" but that's just me. I have no personal objection to saying "fuck" at work, either, but others do:ph34r:

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Exactly. I never said the Pledge in school because I didn't feel the need, but I still respected everyone else's right to say it and stood up to face the flag just the same, except I didn't say the words. So, it should be OPTIONAL. Just like your choice of religion.
I have no problem with GW being religious, stating his religious beliefs, or even bringing them into his work a little; it's part of who he is. But he shouldn't by any means force his religious views on others because you can't expect everyone to agree with you all the time, especially on issues where the Constitution provides for a separation of church and state...

My post wasn't a opposing opinion on anything
relating to anyone's post..maybe a vent if anything!

I could add that the "so-called" christian figures in the world, whenever they set a bad example..
the ones who will suffer are the truly dedicated ones.
And that is to be expected from what I read in the Bible.
I get really upset sometimes watching the news and hearing alot of people being not believing in God.Due to other's action's or non-actions.
So, I will just leave it at that and don't have any expectaions from anyone.

I agree with Bill, I to was raised in a Christian home, attended private Christian high school and college both by my choice. I’ve learned a lot about the different tenets of religions and spiritually and have found that most of the problems one has with organized religion comes from the organization of religion, (or lack there of). Though I disagree with a lot of the rules of organization religion, I still am a spiritual person.

The only thing that bothers me is people who give up on God after three “strikes” while a child. Every subject should be explored fully before decisions can be made. And often times the important issues, such as religion, should be re-reviewed through out life.

Bitterness only causes the bitter persons to be bitter, use the knowledge at hand to make logical decisions.
