mixedup 0 #1 November 2, 2011 What's the typical "life" of a ZP chute (e.g. Safire-2) in terms of number of jumps? That is, if we define "life" in this case as meaning number of jumps before any major maintenance work on the chute....(redoing lines perhaps?) Background - So if a see a 2nd hand main with 200 jumps on it, how far through it's "new" maintenance free life is it. Or in other words how far through until I have to spend more money on it.Parachutist Game IOS Android YouT
dragon2 2 #2 November 2, 2011 An estimate is about 600 jumps for a complete new lineset for a normal sports canopy. Upper steering lines, if they're microline, need replacing about ~300 jumps. Lower steering lines need replacing a bit more often especially if you have velcro on your risers or jumpsuit (). The fabric itself of a ZP canopy can handle 1000+ jumps (a lot more sometimes) depending on where it's been jumped, packed and taken care of. So usually a canopy is worth a 2nd lineset or more. ciel bleu, Saskia

By the time my Stiletto 120 got to 500 jumps some of the outer lines had shrunk 6" versus 1.5" on the center cell lines. Even with new brake lines the openings were squirlier than with a fresh set. koppel 4 #8 November 3, 2011 were the new brake lines set to factory spec or replaced to match the spec of the line length as it was at that point?I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
DrewEckhardt 0 #9 November 4, 2011 Quotewere the new brake lines set to factory spec or replaced to match the spec of the line length as it was at that point? Built to match the length difference specified in the trim sheet. Longer than they were but not as long as unshrunken lines would be.
