LouDiamond 1 #279 July 23, 2003 OK, computer geek show your brain time. Topic is wireless notbook cards. Question is: what are the differences in the wireless notebook cards one finds in the stores from one another in regards to wireless G band, B band and does 256 bit encryption make a card better than a 128 bit card? bonus question: does the cards ability to handle more kbs make it a more attractive option or is this more eye candy? Ready, begin... G cards also do B - it is backwards compatible. The more Kbs is usually better - but it has to be compatible with the access point (AP). If you have a G AP and a B card, your card should work if the AP is allowed to have B clients. In theory, all G cards should work with any B AP. The higher the encryption the better - but almost any encryption can be hacked if you know what you are doing. You can also get a card that does all three bands (A,B, and G) which should allow you to work on any AP you have access/rights to. I went with the G card since I have yet to find that many A AP out there._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Don't know about that, but he does have purple toenails!! mine were multiple colors almost a year ago. Toe make a good calendar, peanut taught me that. Seriously, he painted everyone toenails. One per day, for each day they were there. I though it was a funny joke, but he said trust him, I'd need them. Well, into the convention a few days someone asked me what day it was. I just stood there, dazed. I had no clue! Sooo, i looked down at my toe, and counted. 4! Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. Monday! I told the guy it was Monday, I was right, and without the polish I would have had no clue! The WFFC is surreal. Time seems to stand still while you are there. It seems like you blink and it's time to go home. In other words, why would anyone not want to go?It's your life, live it!
