sunshine 2 #51 July 23, 2003 Howzabout impotent guys. Should they try smiling at their penis for 20 minutes a day before asking for some viagra? ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!
rhino 0 #52 July 23, 2003 QuoteI got severely depressed after my lovely wife was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I understand.. That is the type of depression smiling in the mirror probably won't help much. I'm sorry man, I know that is hard. Seeing someone you love in pain is the worst thing in the world. QuoteHOWEVER, such an approach is often not practical nor prudent and such a decision must be made in consultation w/ a competent psychiatrist/therapist. That is fine. It still wouldn't hurt anyone that is depressed to try. QuoteIf it werent' for Zoloft, I would not be able to successfully fulfill my duties as a husband, father, and worker. I understand where you are coming from. But, SOME people aren't in an extended, extreme position you are in. Some are just depressed because they focus on being depressed. Some people can be helped GREATLY by smiling 20 minutes a day. Keep the faith bro... Rhino
Remster 30 #53 July 23, 2003 QuoteFunny.. I got it from Anthony Robbins.. I guess he is just a jack ass that doesn't know shit about the human mind huh?? He helps MILLIONS of people a year. HE is a billionaire.. Werent you the one with great reservations about the motives a person has in helping others when he makes his money from that?Remster

I'm sure that would bring them up and around, without the viagra --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... Emma 0 #55 July 23, 2003 Rhino, you entitled your thread 'Would you like to end your depression? Get off medication?' This is an entirely rhetorical question, for depressed people. Truly depressed people don't enjoy it. You are confusing clinical depression with 'being a bit down'. You can't go around telling people to get off their meds. It's something many depressed people do because they 'feel better' (due to the meds working) and then discover they can't cope. This can often end in tragedy, so I suggest you think a little more carefully before handing out your ill-considered advice. My father 'got off his meds' because he felt better and gassed himself in a car. I don't think any amount of smiling into the rear view mirror would have made a difference. txblondie 0 #59 July 23, 2003 QuoteQuotePeople SHOULD be trepedatious about getting off of meds. FINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Try smiling for 20 minutes a day in the mirror!!!!!!!!!!!! People spend HOURS being depressed why can't they give themselves 20 minutes a day? Rhino Might work, might not. Until you're in the situation, don't knock other people. It's rude. I agree that medication is not the solution to everything. My doctor gave me pills for depression. I took them for a month, decided I didn't like the way I felt, and stopped. The issue with that is that it threw the chemicals way off balance, and for about 2 weeks, I had to readjust, and it was a really bad couple of weeks. Getting off medication requires more than looking at yourself in a damn mirror. This may be helpful, but it's not the solution. Anyway, not saying that the idea is stupid; I'm sure it's good therapy. That, again, doesn't make it a solution. ***************************************** Blondes do have more fun!

Emma 0 #62 July 23, 2003 QuoteI suggest you worry about yourself.. I'll worry about myself.. Er..yeh..except I'm not worried about myself, I'm concerned that your ignorant 'get off your meds' statement might be taken seriously by potentially suicidal people who feel fine on their meds and think 'Hey, if I try this, who needs meds?' I smile a lot and I am not suicidal, or depressed, thanks for your concern though.
rhino 0 #63 July 23, 2003 Bad comparison.. Doesn't work.. Sorry.. Comparing those that hand out Prozac to make money and Anthony Robbins is sick.. Vain attempt at putting words in my mouth..
