le tour de france

Go Lance!! Go baby go!!!

I love cycling but I never have time to watch it really... I have watched pro cycling before and about five years ago I actually caught two stages of the tour when I was visiting family in France. Intense would be an understatement...

These athletes are in incredible shape!

I don't know Chris, he didn't do that great in the Alps. We'll see how he does in the Pyrennes. He is looking more tired at this point than in previous years... He already is a legend though and I hope so much that he does win.

There is some tough competition...

That said the whole U.S. Postal team is awesome.

Lance will pull one of his ride up next to the competion in the Pyrenees (sp) look at them and say here we go. Then he will drop plates on em.

The man is a Stud. Can you imagine sitting on a Bike seat 5 hours a day for 20+ days of racing let alone actually riding up the mountains.

GO LANCE and US POSTAL!!!!

Fudgin aye baby!! I know he can do it...

Without a doubt people have very little idea what it takes to ride approx 100 miles a day over 30 days. Just try one century alone!! I have and it's tough. These guys do 28 rides near to 100 miles in a row practically!! Nuts!!

Allez allez allez!!! Ride baby!!B|

Dood he's just a freaking machine out there!

Back in my college days when I played college soccer and was in shape a buddy of mine and I did three centuries in three days in the midwest without mountains. We couldn't move for a week. Its unreal what they do out there, the pace, the freakin hills!!!

I cannot imagine just riding my ass around Colorado for a few days straight (100+ miles). I think I stick to skydiving (get in, fall out, throw out pilot choot, land - much much easier!!!!)

How about Hamilton having a fractured collarbone suffered on the first stage and still riding like a bat out of freakin hell....he's also a great guy. I used to be one of those boys riding 5 hours a day training 300 miles a week...then I joined the fire service..and got fat...:)
Lance and the TEAM will get huge in the P's..with out question. watch that last Time Trial also.

I caught a stage of the tour on bastille day in 2000...what a blast it was...

I'm pulling for Lance as well. How could I not.

But I think the time trial tomorrow will be the make or break. If he doesn't add to his lead, it may be difficult for him to sustain. He isn't as dominant.

Then again, isn't it like saying Tiger Woods has lost hi magic because he hasn't won a major in four starts? Lance does have the maillot jeune, and he isn't yet dominant.

Maybe he doesn't have to be dominant...

I like the fact that a Texan is kicking butt over there! (Even if he *is* from Austin).

I dunno about kicking butt, Dave. He's only 21 seconds ahead and there's still a looooooong way to go...:)
None of the attackers were in any position to threaten LA's lead BUT every attack he has to respond to takes some gas out of the tank. He may well be left flat in the latter stages of the tour, I hope not, though - I'd like to see him win.

I reckon that this year could well be his last in the TdF. He just doesn't look as "hungry" for the result as he has in the past. Last year there was a couple of points where it wasn't in his best interest to make any sort of move but he did. Mostly as a means if intimidation. This year we haven't seen any real fireworks from him.

Anyone who spends 8 hours a day on a bike 6 days a week is dedicated to the purpose. LA has a an unbelievable work ethic. Either that or he's totally blind barking mad...:)
LA is an extraordinary cyclist with an equally extraordinary team. The posties are probably the most polished team since the Once team of 5 or more years ago. I wonder what'd happen if you took out LA and put Hincappi in charge. My guess is that GH would be in yellow...:)
Of course, being an Aussie, I'm just a tad more interested in the points race...:)
Oh yes, I'm a bike nut - I only have 7 at the moment...:)

I like it too...
but my question is, how can a guy who was dying of a cancer can win 4 (nearly 5) times in a row such an event ??? do you have better doping products in the US ???
did anybody check the skydivers in GAP (one of the bioggest DZ in France) during the Gap-Marseille race (3-4 days ago ???)

Armstrong didn't dominate the time trial today. He didn't even win it.

Yet, somehow, he's still on top, with a bigger lead than he had yesterday over the second place.

What an interesting race this is. Armstrong now said Ullrich is the favorite to win the race. Vino is still third...

Wow!

hands down, most amazing sporting competition ever. Beats the Olympics with its impressiveness. These guys are brutalized.
