To me what's seriously funny about this is that in the newest book Harry Potter gives an exclusive interview about Voldermort being back and the Ministry of Magic forbids any of the students from reading it because they're in deep denial about his return. At first, Harry is pissed off about that, but then looks over and sees Hermione grinning like a Cheshire Cat. He can't see why she's happy about it. "Simple", she says. "If you want to make sure that everybody reads it, there's no better way than to forbid it." Yes, you DID think it was Ginny. Anyway, if you haven't read the entire book yet, I won't say anything more than I stand by my previous prediction. I'm absolutely positive that's the only way this can end. It's the ONLY thing that makes sense to me from a storytelling point of view. MarkF 0 #6 July 3, 2003 There's a few schools here in Melbourne that've banned Harry Potter. Without exception they are church run schools of one description or another catering to the well heeled. Again, without exception they teach their own brand of fundamentalist religion. You know, the same stuff that fuels the middle east. One of the schools, to my certain knowledge, is completely hypocritical - on the shelves of their library they have the Magician series by Feist along with many more dealing with "magic" and the forces of "good" and "evil", etc. At the end of the day all they really scored for their stance was a right, royal spray from most radio talk-back callers and commentators. The _printed_ version of the newspapers carried a _LOT_ of letters seriously dumping on the schools for their stance. I reckon they'll be a bit more carefull with making their policies public in the future...For those ignorant of the ways of Melb. newspapers (as I am about the US print media) the Herald-Sun (the HUN or the Daily Hyphen) is a fairly right wing tabloid with a fairly "shock HORROR" attitude. The Age is an ever so slightly left leaning broadsheet given to more sober consideration of what it actually prints. Most of its commentators make good sense most of the time. If past experience is anything to go by, if we had a Labour (left) govt. The Age would be seen as slightly right leaning.
