Kris 0 #3 July 3, 2003 If I were to show up packed to my DZ it would rip the fabric of space-time as we know it. Not to mention the fact that everyone at the DZ would probably have a coronary. The only time I usually pack before leaving is if I am jumping somewhere out of town.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

sfc 1 #9 July 3, 2003 I hate packing at home, the openings never seem to be right, probably something to do with the tight packing area area, I think there is some vibe on the floor from all the other canopies that have been packed in the same spot over the years and it's just not the same not getting up close with stale sweat and beer stains on the packing room floor. canopywhore 0 #10 July 3, 2003 This time of year its over 100 degrees when I am done jumping. As soon as I am done with my last jump it goes in my bag unpacked. I find it alot more confortable to pack in the confort of my air conditioning.

Seems a lot of people leave the DZ unpacked and then show up unpacked, some people NEVER leave teh DZ unpacked, and some Seem to leave unpacked and show up the next day packed. What do you prefer?? Always pack at the dz, sometime during the day i do a full inspection on my rig...usually after lunch or after last jump of day. I never leave my rig unpacked since I don't want to chance the brake lines getting tangled or the fabric ripped. Also, I almost never bring my gear home. It's great to have a secure locker at the dz._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... FallingAngel 0 #21 July 3, 2003 I always pack my rig before I go home, guess since I pack for almost everyone else on the DZ, I'm in packing mode and mine just gets thrown into the rotation (or I figure, what's one more, might as well just do it). I do however, pack reserves at home so I can take my time on those and have less distractions (unless its slow at the DZ, then I go use the loft). andy2 0 #22 July 3, 2003 well, this is all conjecture, since I dont have my rig yet, but I think I will leave unpacked and daisy chained, and return packed and ready to go! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... Steel 0 #23 July 3, 2003 I rarely pack at home. I usually only do it if I was in a hurry to leave the dropzone and for that reason I daisy chained it up before leaving. That being said I usually pay extra special attention to do the best possible pack job on my last jump of the day. I am actually obsessive compulsive when it comes to packing. I will check that my pilot chute is cocked at least 3 or 4 times on the average. After my rig is closed up I will often sit back and think, "Did I quarter that slider just right?, Did I leave at least 18inches of line unstowed? Are the line bites the perfect length? Is that warning label in the proper position so that if will be the first thing to come out of the bag for a clean deployment? Are the brakes stowed as tightly as possible to avoid a premature brake release on opening? {one unstowed brake on opening would be a guaranteed cutaway on my baby}". If I don't specifically remember doing any of those, I will be on the airplane thinking about my cutaway proceedures. For that reason, if I am jumping a pack job days old I find it harder to remember having done all of those things I consider important. Also ever since I got my 79, (1,000+ jumps ago), I have not jumped anything that I did not pack myself with the exception of once on a CRW jump and I don't intend to.If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.
KenKnight 0 #24 July 3, 2003 I try to pack as soon as possible after landing. Just feel better knowing the canopy is protected and the rig is back in the gear bag. I also pull it back out and do an inspection sometime during the week at the house. Being a beginner, I need the practice anyway. Packing at home, I can take my time and look everything over._______________ D28695 PoPs #9237 "Mix ignorance with arrogance at low altitude and the results are almost guaranteed to be spectacular" — Bruce Landsberg
