phatcat 0 #1 July 4, 2003 Yeah, stupid poll, I know, but what the hell. Last night (I work 3rd shift) I was outside having a smoke and there was a cool as hell lightning storm not more than 5 miles south, heading mostly north. I've always been fascinated by storms, and I was witnessing one of the better lightning shows I've seen. A big part of it is trying to decipher the clouds to see what the storm is doing, and the added challenge when it's nighttime and you have to wait for the lightning to illuminate them. Being that it's that time of the year in the U.S. to blow shit up in the sky, I started thinking "this is way cooler than any fireworks show." So watcha think? Do you like the random natural shows better or the man made variety?
Amazon 7 #2 July 4, 2003 I vote for Both. A show is a Show. From the quiet splendor of the Auroa Borealis in the brisk sub-zero of a December night to the seething natural fireworks of a a nite time lava fountain on the Big Island to a lightning show with the backdrop of the booming thunder its all good. But there is the sheer beauty to the staged and choreographed to music fireworks displays that are wonders to see as well. Amazon

Zeemax 0 #4 July 4, 2003 Lightening.. always lightening I've got a kick ass picture i took of lightening when i was younger. Its not like all the other pictures you see with big bolts hitting the ground. It's of the clouds themselves charging up Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies

Michele 1 #7 July 4, 2003 I like them both, but really only get to see fireworks. Most times, living here in So. CA (or, at least where I live), we don't get dramatic lightning riddled storms. The few times I've seen those sorts of storms, I adored them. I remember when I lived in Belgium sitting in the attic room I had watching a storm come furiously flying across the farm. It was glorious and intense, awe-inspiring and very very loud. 20 years later I can still recall the light, the sound, the smell....I'd be hard pressed to recall a fireworks show I've ever seen, even one from last year. But I like fireworks, too. There isn't a real comparison - one is manmade, and the other is made by nature. Two wholly different events. Push 0 #8 July 4, 2003 If there's one thing that can be said about communist Russia it is that they spared nothing when it came to ceremony. They brought battleships and fired the firework shells from their guns. Until you have seen ten enormous simultaneous spheres of disintegrating specks of different coloured light lighting up a city, you haven't seen fireworks. -- Toggle Whippin' Yahoo Skydiving is easy.
