"Beer Light" sign ideas?

Recommended Posts

I'm making a "beer light" sign, by cutting a design/words out of some diamond plate sheetmetal, then backlighting it with blue colored lights.

I need some ideas for the design.

I was thinking maybe just cutting "BEER" out, but that's sorta lame. I have a 24"x48" piece of diamond plate I'm working with here, so I have room to play.

Please post ideas.

How about a big blue sign with purple outline that says Dirk Diggler. The name is so sharp, it cuts glass.

Please tell me someone remembers this from Boogie Nights?

I like the traditional beer lights, get a budweiser, bud light, corona, whatever style one. Theyre neat and look good at a dropzone. You could probably find one online somewhere for exspensive or check on ebay or at your local flea market. Its all good, dude.

Yeah, they're relatively expensive, though. Since diamond plate is pretty cheap and the light I'm using is cheap, all it'll take is maybe an hour of my time with my cutting torche and my angle grinder. A hour is probably the high side of the equation, too.

Maybe a bottle shape and a beer mug shape can be cut out as well. Both should be relatively easy to draw and cut out.

Dude, that's a cool idea! Too bad I'm a redneck with a cutt'n torch, or that might be doable.

Well, you could always lay them (beer and mug) on the plate and trace them....

You aren't wearing roller skates are you, Laurel?

Yep. Not roller blades, but keeping it old-school with white roller skates. :$

Hey, some of the most powerful machines of the 20th century came about because a redneck with a cuttin' torch decided to challenge himself...don't cut yourself short, buddy!
I've always thought putting it right next to the fridge with the arrow flashing "for those who owe...here you go" would be lame but appropriate...every skydiver would know EXACTLY what it meant, the whuffos would never understand.

Ok, being a redneck myself, how about cutting out the word "BEER" out of the diamond plate then framing the whole thing with some barnwood trim. Kinda rustic like. I think it would fit in at your dz.B| Just an ideaB|
