Lioness 0 #10 July 1, 2003 IMO - White goes with everything but black. Black shoes = black socks. As far as other colors... it should really match the entire outfit.______________________________________ Be glad of life, because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars. Your jumpsuit is black with white, not white with black. crapflinger2000 1 #22 July 1, 2003 Surely there must be some rule of thumb... "match the entire outfit" carries NO meaning to most male minds I would guess, especially the "outfit" part... __________________________________________________ What would Vic Mackey do? misskriss 0 #23 July 1, 2003 "When picking out socks for an outfit there are numerous options. Generally, socks should coordinate with the color of your shoes, but not contrast too strongly with trousers. Black socks with black shoes and shades of brown with brown shoes, but no darker than the shoe itself are appropriate. To have a little more fun with your socks, you can use them to bring out some of the other colors of your selected clothing. Take into consideration your jacket, shirt and tie when selecting socks. Use your socks to complement the color of a stripe in your necktie or bring out the color of your shirt. Bright colors can work perfectly to bring out the colors in a summer tie. It can be especially interesting to use socks to compliment a jacket. Blue socks can be a great addition to a navy blazer, helping to make the blue of the blazer stand out. With a tweed jacket, consider wearing earthy colors of burgundy or green" It's amazing what you can find on the internet these days..
Rebecca 0 #24 July 1, 2003 Sigh. OK, I'll give it a shot. These rules assume that: a.) you are not color-blind and b.) you can actually dress yourself Assuming you are dressing business casual on a daily basis, take a look at your pants and your shoes, since these are what your socks will be next to. Then, look in your sock drawer, where you should have a variety of styles, patterns and colors. If, for example, you are wearing khaki pants and brown leather shoes, choose socks that are also khaki/ brownish/ neutral (as in neither black, white, nor brightly colored) If you have to wear a suit, and if it's dark, wear black dress socks. If you have casual Friday and you wear jeans and tennies, by all means, white socks. If you put your clothes on and look at yourself in the mirror before you leave (you do that, right?) and you notice your ankles for some reason, you've chosen poorly. If your ankles do not stand out, you've chosen wisely. Does that help? you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?
