Has anyone signed up? I think the system may be a little overwhelmed because I signed up at the website yesterday morning and didn't get my confirmation email till this morning. But it's official I'm on the list.

I'm more than delighted to put those telemarketing scum out of business. They've disrupted my dinner for the last time, the fuckers.

I realize there are some exemptions to the national "do not call" registry, but they're going to decline quite a bit.

As I mentioned in the other thread, it's nice to have our so-called "representatives" doing something for US for a change, instead of the well-heeled lawyers and lobbyists.

Now if we can only convince them to bring RIAA to heel...

I suspect the number of charity, political, and statiscal calls will increase rapidly to match the vacuum left from the commercial ones.

I haven't tried it yet because obviously I don't have a home phone but I was always kind of glad that they never called my cell phone. Is there some kind of restriction on cell phone numbers?

First attempt via website- said to try back. Second attempt - went through. It's not effective until October so I'll see how many phone calls I still get. Thanks for the heads up on this by the way.

I do actually work for a telemarketing co (Don't shoot me, we just do surveys) and anything but home numbers are trash. I believe it is illegal to telemarket cell phones. (I've just heard this, no actual proof)

I mostly use my cell phone and the quickest way to get them off the phone is to tell them they called your cell. They usually hang right up and I haven't gotten a call back from any of them yet.
