Zeemax 0 #1 June 29, 2003 More something for the brits of the board... anyone else see it? for the people who didn't i'll explain. 6 week sereies. They've built a studio in a Hercule's., and have the audience in a field below. Theres a presenter and 6 'celebrities' ( i say it like that as they are G list and below.. people just trying to get exposure, who really aren't famous) Each round the 'celebrities' have to persuade the audience below that they're the biggest celeb.. BWAHAHAHAHA.. anyways, the jury (audience) then pick the celeb they want out by walking to a giant target and standing on the face of the celeb. The one they pick then has to leave the plane They're strapped to a TM and jump from 12K. 2 camera flyers and a smaller plane behind the herc catch all the action till they land. The mechanic of the show is pretty poor and 'celebs' are lame, but it really shows skydiving in a positive light as 5 out of the 6 got on the ground and said it was the best thing that they had ever done. However... *bad bit* one of them stupidly put their foot out on landing and suffered a small fracture. oh well.. all in all, more positive than negative for the sport.. anyone else see it??Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
QuickDraw 0 #2 June 29, 2003 Yup i saw it, as you said... i wasn't the greatest show, but it was intresting watching how the TM's lifted them off of the ramp before they exited. C130 is sommat i want to jump one day. -- Hope you don't die. -- I'm fucking winning
Zeemax 0 #3 June 29, 2003 LOL ! thats exactly what i said... I was at my ma and pa's when i watched it. they were like... ARGHHH, no, why would anyone want to do taht... eeeek!! etc... and i was drooling... must jump hercule's.. must jump herc.. alrghhhhhh do you think they were actually cirling? obviously they kept landing and stuff, you could see while they were gearing up one of the 'celeb's' the alti read 9K, plus they used the same TM more than once, which would have been a trick if they hadn't landed.. LOL its got to be a piss take, the presenter could have been harsher to the 'celebs' still, good skydiving footage Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
QuickDraw 0 #4 June 29, 2003 A better show would consist of cutting away those so called celebrities about 800ft. over the runway. -- Hope you don't die. -- I'm fucking winning
Zeemax 0 #5 June 29, 2003 why cut away? just push them out at 12K and laugh... when cheryl baker came down tho, the white looked like a reserve..??Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies

nacmacfeegle 0 #8 June 30, 2003 I think its cool, skydiving on prime time British TV....Its gotta be good for the sport. I even like the format, Runaround meets Big Brother, meets room 101, meets Eloy's "Trash Day".-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. mcuk 0 #9 June 30, 2003 There's just one more show....it's on in 4 weeks I think... Yeah...they like circled at 5 grand whilst filming then went up to 12 to jump... they filmed for about 2/3hrs (by which time 3 of the 'celebs' have jumped)then land and go again with the other three. The 'household names' were much though eh!!
gus 1 #10 June 30, 2003 Oh man that program was lame - but at least most of them came down loving it so good exposure for the sport. Lots of jokes about 'Celebrity Cutaway' at the dz on Sunday. GusOutpatientsOnline.com
Malev 0 #11 June 30, 2003 Quote Oh man that program was lame Wasn't it just. I watched it last night after getting back from the DZ, part of me wishes I hadn't bothered. I was disappointed that they cut most of the skydives out though, since that was the whole point of the show! Quoteat least most of them came down loving it so good exposure for the sport. It will be interesting to see if there is an increase in tandems on the back of this or not...but it is the best publicity the sport is going to get in terms of the mainstream public this year so it can't be all bad! bluepill 0 #12 June 30, 2003 I was expecting this show to be crap but I was quite impressed with it. There was definatley some very good exposure for skydiving. It was shame they dident show more of the skydiving, but what they do show was very good, what with putting in a bit of "noise" and they even ad a bit of in-free fall feedback - I.E screams I hope the next show improves on this. But as someone has already said, skydiving in primetime TV is good.
cptfunky 0 #13 June 30, 2003 I don't know the show, but when i read your description, i first thougt that the audience is voting for one celeb who has to leave the plane WITHOUT a chute. Would be much more interessting btw. Don't know if you know this dutch guy John De Mol who produces all these big european gameshows? He said in an interview that he would produce a show (5 people in a plane, 4 chutes) like this at once if it was legal. So, that is why i wondered. mcuk 0 #14 June 30, 2003 if only.... And the 'celebs' don't get any better in the next program....
