Muenkel 0 #104 June 25, 2003 Yeah I do. Taxes have gone so high on the Island and they have invested a lot of money in the Public School System. Long Island has some of the best Public Schools in the country. The sad thing about the Island when I was growing up was how segregated it was. I remember Brentwood as having a "white" section and a "black" section. And as kids, we had it drummed into our heads that the "black" sections were dangerous. My area was kind of upper middle class and I remember stories of "black" people being pulled over by village police to ask why they were there. I will always love my hometown, but I am not proud of that. I understand though, that things are getting better and towns are becoming more integrated.
