Snowflake 0 #56 June 25, 2003 QuoteNo, liberating them was a fringe benifit for their oppressed population. We went there to protect ourselves from further terrorist attacks on our interests. After Bush senior we tried to perform inspections to maintain reasonable security that way but it wasn't working so we went in and did what we had to. Even your buddy Clinton was involved in conficts with Iraq or do you not remember everything that went on in early 98 with the Iraqis refusing to allow inspections. The laughter never stops with you huh? Oh yea the idea that Reagan came up with an economic theory is too funny an example of one of your not stupid politicians no doubt. From what I've seen so far you look at the world through Republican tinted glasses, which makes you views very narrow. I don't follow anyone blindly, slavishly, simply because they share a political party with me. I've voted for candidates from many parties, generally because I read what they wrote in various publications, both partisan and non-partisan. Isn't that the way it's supposed to be done? Or have I been voting wrong all these years. Somehow I always thought the "straight party ticket" lever was lazy. billvon 2,991 #68 June 25, 2003 >I would imagine that this would take quite a bit of research, since >proving a negative is difficult. Hmm. So you don't believe that four protesting college students were shot and killed at Kent State by US national guard troops on May 4, 1970? Do you therefore believe that Alison Krause, Jeffery Miller, Sandra Scheuer, and William Schroeder are still alive? Or are you making some other point? billvon 2,991 #70 June 25, 2003 >"I am a Republican!" And proudly you say that! You are in good standing. Nixon showed the world how the republican party stood for integrity and honesty. Poindexter showed how honest republicans can be. Reagan showed real vision by funding radical islamic terrorists in Afganistan and helping pay for the rise of Al Qaeda, and Bush I proved how tough he was on terror by helping Hussein wage war on his neighbors. Yep, consider yourself lucky that you are in the company of such outstanding people.
Steel 0 #71 June 25, 2003 Swearing objectivity is unrealistic. Being a mathematician who has taken many math classes, I recall one I believe it was titled Math models (it was 400 level or senior level ofcourse). Anyway one point I remember from this class was a study that was done and found that it was always more productive to have two people working for you that didn't like each other than three people with one who was objective. They found that when there was 3 more problems would occur than 4. Four or any mutiple of 2 would probably pair off and form two groups. If you had and odd number such as three, one would be switch back and forth and nothing would ever get accomplished. This was compared the U.S.'s two party system which has a realistic representation and the french system with 37 (really 37!) political parties at the time. The place with two parties would naturally try a more realistic approach to solving a problem, I.E. not just trying to please a small portion of the population until everybody else got fed up with it lobbied to get there party in to then please them and then for the cycle to repeat itself. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. txblondie 0 #73 June 25, 2003 as though trying to be objective were a problem of some sort. reply] *************************************** I think it's okay to be objective. However, I also feel that (assuming you can find a politician who doesn't spit shit out of his mouth all the time) you should be true to your own beliefs. What I mean by that is that, if you are hardcore republican, but you feel very strongly about something the Democrat candidate has to say, by all means, vote for the person you agree with rather than being afraid to step across the party line. However, the reality is, that if your beliefs are consistent with one party or the other, there will never be a case when you would want to cross party lines because the other candidate would represent everything that you did NOT believe. ***************************************** Blondes do have more fun!
