pringles 0 #1 June 25, 2003 I will start out with why I am writting this. I got a phone call this morning from a jumper that I know. I have been told in the past that once or twice a year he will organize some jumping at an airport that isn't regularly a DZ. He has a friend that is a jump pilot with a Cessna set up for jumping. I have even jumped out of this plane at my home drop zone. When I got this call this morning I was asked to bring my Tandem gear on sunday to this airport to do some tandems that he has set up. He claims that the pilot has a waiver and so does he. I haven't seen these waivers. I am planning on bringing the gear manufacture waiver. I feel like I should bring a waiver for myself also. What does everyone think?!? As far as a waiver for myself. Would it be ok to get a waiver from my home DZ and change the drop zone name to mine? Maybe this is a stupid question but I just don't want to get there and have the wiaver that they have written out by hand on a napkin or somthing. Im sure thats not the case, but you can never be to sure. Thanks everyone for your input. Matt Matt Davies
QueenBee 0 #2 June 25, 2003 As Manifest Queen "B" at my DZ, I would definitely recommend that you bring a Release of Liability Agreement with you. Even thought they claim to have waivers, do you know if their waivers specifiy your name, or even "tandem instructor" as one of those included in the waiver. I think it would be better to be safe and use/revise the one that your dz uses.Queen "B" ----------------------------------------------- Skydive Aggieland, Inc. ChasingBlueSky 0 #3 June 25, 2003 You will also want a Notary there to witness the signature._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
skydiverbrian 0 #4 June 25, 2003 Better yet, just don't do the tandems. That's an awful lot of work and hassle just to do what may amount to only one or two jumps. In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal
mnischalke 0 #5 June 25, 2003 I'd second that. It sounds sketchy as hell. Why not just bring whatever tandems he has lined up to a USPA affiliated dz? Would this not be considered a Demo since there is no normal jumping operation at that airport? mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills. lawrocket 3 #6 June 25, 2003 The possibilities here could be a lawyer's wet dream, assuming you all have significant assets... Take my advice... you need to have an agreement between the jumper and pilot. And, whomever runs the airport. Think about it: looking in from the outside, would you want to be a tandem jumping with such a loosely organized operation? It sounds nice and sounds fun, but I'd really think about the downside risk. Chances are nothing negative will happen. But... don't EVER just take peoples' word on stuff like this. Do your own investigation and "trust but verify." Too soon to verify? Well.... My wife is hotter than your wife.
