No, no, an open circuit is like a jacuzzi, and a short circuit is like one of those spinny garden sprinklers once the grass around it gets too high for it to spin.

An open circuit is a broken pipe and therefore does not supply water to your faucet.
A short circuit is your neighbor tapping off from your main. ;)

And an intermittent short is when somebody steps on the garden hose.:D
