low pulls

Recommended Posts

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting, today's turbo jump planes like to roll over and dive once they're empty. Wow, that would be messy.

In general I think it's really cool that people are pulling higher than they used to. Whether it's snivel soft openings, the higher speeds of freeflying, or the widely accepted use now of AAD's, people are definitely pulling higher than in the old days. Twenty years ago 2 grand to 2500 was considered normal. I've always been happy to let it go around 2800'ish. The one time I had to chop a streamer, I was under my reserve around 1800, which was fine with me.

But I'm still wondering about people who say they're nervous about pulling below 3500 ft. Something inside is saying, "c'mon people, it's about freefall, isn't it ?". Please don't get me wrong, I think 3 grand is wonderful. But somebody else in these Forums made a remark about AFF graduates "being afraid of jumping below 6 grand". I mean the ground is coming up whether you're at 3 grand or 6. People getting too nervous about 3 grand make me nervous, because I wonder what they're going to do. If you're OPEN above 2 grand, you're in great shape! I'm talking about your average freefall dive here, not a planned high opening to go on a date with your canopy.

people think you pull low when in the saddle at 2,000'? What up with that yo?

A low pull to me is pulling below my intended pull altitude. Of course I pull by 3k.

I'm the good looking dark skinned freeflyer with the pink, purple and blue Sabre 190 and 270 jumps.

See yas this weekend.

1700ft exit.....uuuuh

yes....well i guess I lack the testicular fortatude to attempt that at this point in my career

forgot to add that with my canopy a 1700 ft hop n pop may not give me enough time if i diddnt pack for it.. Lol, In fact if I diddnt pack for it I would pull silver below 1500 for sure

Don´t belive the hype

"Damn... I gotta get a new cutter for my Cypres ... AGAIN" = LOW

"Damn... We really do have a small DZ down there!" = HIGH

Just kidding... I've been thoroughly trained 2000 is absolute minimum.. and some DZ's do not want you pulling any higher than 3K, if so you need to report it to manifest. I'm still new but 3K is very comfortable to me.

1700ft exit.....uuuuh

I got out at 1800 once. It was funny to have my time out SCREAMING when I put my head out the door. Not near as dangerous as my 2400Ft the same day. On that one I figured I had PLENTY of time to free fly. :D

To me, a low pull saddles you in after no snivel at 1800 or under. Unless you're on a big-way. It's still low then, but it's also part of the plans and instructions.

A high pull depends on the load, but in the olden days dumping before 3000' was high unless you were a student. Now I'd put that at 4500'. Basically any pull that requires warning the pilot.

My definition:

Low pull - Under 2000'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

oh shit
i jumped under 2500-3000 few times with 3-5 seconds delay

Once jumped out at 2000ft went 9seconds before i pulled my xfire99:o,but well i didnt have BASE gear at that time:)And the ADD were off.

from 3300ft i make 13-14seconds and are in the saddel at 2000ft(pro-track),this is done by a ff suit and total legal here:)

Stay safe
