CanuckInUSA 0 #26 June 16, 2003 0:22:0 No such luck in that all important first category. You're reading this number right. I made 22 jumps this weekend. No beer owed. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

nubain1 0 #28 June 16, 2003 QuoteA bunch!!!:0:0 My weekend is just starting though. Supposed to take the girlfriend for a tandem on Wednesday. I'm nervous about it....is that normal? Only if you don't mind getting raped.I did my first tandem at the same time my ex did. After she came down she walked up to me and said "I'm wet and your in trouble".Needless to say I had to fight her off till we got home. It's hard to drive when you got someone trying to rape you at the same time. Snowbird 0 #31 June 16, 2003 Conrats Anne! Whoohoo! *** QuoteYou're reading this number right. I made 22 jumps this weekend You suck Lets see...A slightly late flare that gave me an unintentional skim. Now how do I do that on purpose? An unexpected happy visit from the gal I bought my gear from. A mini airshow from the local acrobatic pilot showoff dude, very cool. Take out Chinese dinner for 12 hungry skydivers. And the BEST marriage proposal at the dz. She shows up with friends/family/boyfriend in tow to do a tandem. While they're on the way to altitude, everyone pitches in and writes 'WILL U MARRY ME?' on our piece of taxiway. She sees it under canopy, screams yes, lands crying. It was great.Oh yeah, and 3 lovely jumps. Clear and pull from 4000. Then 2 attempts at my 'B' license maneuver series. So close! And y'know, it's great having my hubby jumping, but it sure cuts into my skydiving budget Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Amazon 7 #37 June 16, 2003 :6:0 Not a bad weekend. Got to meet Superstu on Sat..I think he figured out why I got the nickname Amazon. It was VERY slow at our DZ for up-jumpers. I think everybody spent all their money on the Caravan last weekend ( hell I did 15 jumps myself last weekend). Static line class of 13 and Tandems all day yesterday... yikes. Good jumps though, with lots of play in the sky was good for me. Last jump today tho SUCKED. I did a really good bellyfly with one of the resident 4 way guru's.. 10 points woo hoo ( ok I am old and slow on all this spinning around stuff and I think I have MAYBE 6 jumps on RW jumps on my belly since I started jumping again.).. BUT we decided we needed to slow me down with this retro suit refugee from the 1980's out of the loft that we lovingly call FRANKENSUIT, from all the stitchery holding it together. The only problem is... it has a MONDO burble. So I dump at 2500 (Protrack said 1900 later )and get the pilot chute in tow/hesitation from hell. Looking back and sliding to the side didnt make it go away but going to a sit FINALLY got the bag out and into the SNIVEL with slider up deployment. OK so I know I am getting low at this point so I grab the steering lines and pumped once REALLLLLY HARD and voila....Slider comes down finally. If the pump it trick would not have worked it was chop time. Still I found myself under a good canopy at 1300' ( I think if I EVER jump that monster suit again I will just go to a sit as I deploy.) I was amazed at how fast I burned altitude but I was coping with a situation I was fairly confident I could handle. All in all a good weekend but I think next time.. I might have to take look at the brand new reserve I bought from Lisa before she decided to become a skydive bum At least I dont owe beer or a bottle to Todd the Gimp Amazon
Amazon 7 #38 June 16, 2003 Quote2 freefly jumps; I almost managed a stable sit I had fun and now have video that PROVES I can do a sit and a stand... I am having way too much fun spinning and just flyin the hell out of my body. But I had to go back and try some bellyflight just to make sure the local sky-guru's will let me on the bigways later this summer. Amazon

Vallerina 2 #42 June 16, 2003 Do not read this unless you can deal with insane jealousy! I got a wake up call at 6 am:3:1 Friday: I went to Barleycorn to sell tandems, but I didn't have much energy since the lack of sleep I had the night before was coupled with missing this really hot guy. I was ready to fall asleep at the bar. I looked over to the left, and I see this incredibly sexy guy walking towards me! I did what any self-respecting woman would do...I went and attacked him! It was a great surprise to see that after thinking all week long that I wasn't going to see someone so awesome! Carolyn didn't appreciate my display of affection, but I convinced her I was selling skydives for her dz! Saturday: Hung out at the Signature Room in the Hancock center to see one of the best views of Chicago. We avoided the waitress...their drinks are too expensive! Then, we played around at Hammacher Schlemmer. Finally, we ended the evening by seeing my two nephews and looking for a hotel (still not sure of what was going on to make almost all hotels booked.) Sunday: I finally let the hot guy go for a few days. I almost killed myself on the way to the dz (panicking after seeing that a car has been in your blind spot is a bad idea.) I had three coached freeflyin' jumps with Casey. Woo hoo!!! He taught me how to cartwheel, and he said that he'll be able to get me to fly headdown! He picked up on a few things I was doing wrong from our hd exit, and he gave me some muscle memory exercises. And I think this post made me a Pooh-Bah! A damn good weekend! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

jceman 1 #47 June 16, 2003 Yeeha! Congrats, Anne, on getting back in the air! BTW, some of you (fairly) newbies need to be told/reminded what the weekend numbers represent: They do not mean Friday:Saturday:Sunday; they represent, in order, Humps:Jumps:Beer Owed. If you are reluctant for any reason to enter the number of times you got laid/blown/etc in the first number, feel free to enter any number (but please explain its significance). We now return you to your normal wicked ways. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?
