jojames 0 #1 February 11, 2012 was thinking of buying the icon pro harness. I5 i want to put a pd 193 optimum as the reserve and the pilot 188 zpx as the main. does anyone know if this will fit and would it be too tight ive read the optimum reserve packs smaller and i could go for the smart 176 but would prefer the extra sq/ft of the 193 if its possible. same with the main - would the 188 be too tight

I5 is rated for a Smart 175; PD193 is around the same volume. zpx188 might be a little tight but should not be a big problem.
nolan358 0 #4 February 11, 2012 If the ZPX fabric packs the claimed 17% smaller that puts it below the recommended size for the I5 doesn't it? but i also get that a new canopy is harder to pack and the manufacturers claims are not always spot on. Chart says that both 150's and 168's will fit ok so it should be fine. >but i also get that a new canopy is harder to pack and the manufacturers claims are >not always spot on. Yes, and it should be added that if this is a new canopy, new rig and a new jumper it will be a royal pain in the ass to get it into the bag. However a good packer shouldn't have too much trouble with it.
Throttlebender 0 #6 February 11, 2012 I have one with a PDR160 and a SafireII 159 in it. It's tight. The reserve and main are both old enough to pack tightly and I pack effeciently and it's tight. Could you get anything larger in? Probably. Should you?.........Meh Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
axelandr 0 #7 February 12, 2012 I jumped this config last year, Icon I5 with a 188 zpx and a 175 smart, all components brand new, no problem whatsoever on the fit. don't think the reserve was super tight, so if the 193 optimum packs 1 size smaller it shouldn't be a problem, but ask aerodyne before buying.. i can't really see any problems concerning packing of the main either, my brand new zpx slid right into the bag without too much effort. a. gzimmermann 0 #8 February 12, 2012 My previous container was an I5, Smart 160, Pilot 168 ZPX. With Skyhook. I changed the Pilot 168 ZPX for a Storm 150. All I can say is the container did not feel loose in these configurations.... But as others said: Ask Aerodyne.
guppykf 0 #9 February 12, 2012 I have the pilot 188 zpx and smart 175 reserve in the I5 and everything fits well. I have over 150 jumps on this gear and still love it!!!THRIVING IN MY DASH!!
Throttlebender 0 #10 February 12, 2012 Wow, I must have the smallest I5 around. Weird.Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
billvon 3,063 #11 February 12, 2012 >I have one with a PDR160 and a SafireII 159 in it. It's tight. Strange. I had an I4 with a Pilot 150 and a Smart 135 in it and it was pretty loose.
Throttlebender 0 #12 February 12, 2012 Well mine is bought second or third hand and although the packing card reads that it's an I5, perhaps its not. I think I'll call in the serial number.Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
guppykf 0 #13 February 12, 2012 Additionally, I purchased mine new with those specs. Because I was a newbie the main appeared tight at first but when others packed it they showed me it was just me and not a volume issue So you might check the serial number to check to see if its really an I5 or if it is an I4. I have a friend that has an I4 with a smart 160 reserve that was trying to fit a pilot 188 zpx and just couldnt get it in the bag. Even seasoned packers were having problems until it got several jumps on it. Good luck to ya! THRIVING IN MY DASH!!
DivingWombat 0 #14 February 6, 2013 After packing a pilot 188zpx several times into an I4, I can certainly say it fits! The reserve is a OP176. This rig might be a very good brandnew rig for beginners as you can downsize to a 132 main.
