howardwhite 6 #26 May 30, 2003 I voted yes, but with an unstated caveat -- where is the wedding? I'm guessing it might be in Herzlia, just north of Tel Aviv. I worked for a company based there, and spent many summer evenings watching weddings. If so, it seems to be pretty safe. Oddly, Netanya, not much farther north, has had several suicide bombings. As to hot, if you're in Tel Aviv or Herzlia, you're not far from the beach. And (as they say in Arizona) it's a dry heat. HW

pilotdave 0 #30 May 31, 2003 I'd go. I've been there 5 times myself and I'd love to go back. It's a surprisingly safe feeling place. I remember on one trip I was leaving a mall bathroom behind a soldier. He had his machine gun strapped across his butt and got stuck in the doorway. You just don't see that in America. You'll see so many guns there you won't think twice about them after a little while. On my first trip, around 1987, we were trying to get to a certain area (cant remember where anymore), but it was considered dangerous at the time (stonings, not bombings). No cab drivers would take us there. Finally we asked one cab driver and he said sure. We asked why he would and nobody else would. He reached into his glove compartment and pulled out his gun... "This is why." Ya don't see that in new york! It's a cool place. Just like skydiving, if you can deal with the risk, go for it. Dave
freeflir29 0 #31 May 31, 2003 http://www.computerpranks.com/download/media/asf/shopping_in_israel.asx Hehehehehee...seriously....if it was me...I wouldn't hesitate. Just stay off the public transport and heed any warnings the locals give you. You'll be fine. If you fly El Al it's probably THE SAFEST airline in the world.
