dueyssisters 0 #1 May 20, 2003 We want to thank those who posted messages of concern and for prayer for our brother Duane Wierenga- He is an extremely qualified and experienced diver- we are very proud of him. It is upsetting to see "Ron's" remarks- however perhaps Ron is not as experienced and lacks good insight. Please continue to pray, Duane is in critical condition with a severed spine and numerous other injuries. Help us all heal with your kind remarks about Duane Suz and Sue
Michele 1 #2 May 20, 2003 Hi... This might get better response if it were posted in Talk Back. That way, we can post our thoughts there without it being conflicting with the purpose of this particular forum. Thanks for coming here and posting. Edit to add: my prayers and thoughts, and hope are with Deuy, you and your family. Please let us know how we can help... towerrat 0 #3 May 20, 2003 Ron is very experienced and has incredible insight. I'm very sorry for what has happened, and wish Duane and Family only the best. Ron was only trying to gleen usable information from the situation at hand. Unfortunately, sometimes it's the only way we as skydivers can gain a better understanding of these unfortunate incidents.Play stupid games, win stupid prizes! prepheckt 0 #4 May 20, 2003 Duey is a great skydiver, and a integral part of Skydive the Rockies, I will keep him in my prayers, and wish him a speedy recovery. AggieDave 6 #5 May 20, 2003 Yeah, but he could have used a whole LOT more tact when asking. Although we're conversing via the internet, folks need to remember that real people with real feelings are on the other side of their screen. That is something that folks that haven's spent a lot of time on the internet seem to forget sometimes.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." towerrat 0 #6 May 20, 2003 Maybe since I know Ron, It's easy for me to understand that there was no ill intent.Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
skybytch 273 #7 May 20, 2003 QuoteYeah, but he could have used a whole LOT more tact when asking. We've all been guilty of that one, Dave. This is why I generally stay away from threads in the incidents forum regarding people I know - after getting the basic details I avoid opening the thread. I encourage others to do the same. It's hard to be objective about the causes of an incident when the person involved is someone you care about, and it's even harder to read speculation from others who probably don't even know the person involved. The discussion will go on with or without you and the facts will come out over time; why put yourself through more pain by reading anything other than the "official" report? My best wishes for a speedy recovery for Duey. Sunny and warm get well "vibes" on the way from California...
bbarnhouse 0 #8 May 20, 2003 Quoteand it's even harder to read speculation from others who probably don't even know the person involved. I agree, just that facts ...and after an official report, open it up for discussion.
skybytch 273 #9 May 20, 2003 QuoteI agree, just that facts ...and after an official report, open it up for discussion. Don't get me wrong. I think there's a place for speculation and discussion before the official report; many times that speculation gets information to someone who didn't have it and that could prevent the posting of a future thread in the incidents forum. I don't think it's a good idea for those who know the person involved to read the speculation - which is why I try to stay out of threads involving people I know and I encourage others to do the same. SkymonkeyONE 4 #10 May 20, 2003 I have written and deleted three different posts in response to the sisters. None, I decided, needed to be said by me. Bottom line here is that the incidents forum needs to be considered "the clinic", not "the church." I found nothing untoward in Ron Hill's post that deserved some of the flippant remarks it drew. Ron is, in fact, plenty qualified to ask the questions he did, so personal attacks on HIS qualifications are likewise uncalled for. This, the talkback forum, is where we send our wishes for a speedy recovery or condolences. That being said, I wish a speedy recovery to Duey and best wishes to his family. bbarnhouse 0 #11 May 20, 2003 I think speculation, rumor and innuendo serve no purpose. I prefer the facts. Luv ya Bytch...let's say we just agree to disagree on this one.

Again sorry for your friend and hope all goes well. josh
 bbarnhouse 0 #14 May 20, 2003 Letss clarify something here.
